Weather update: IMD predicts more rains, cloudy sky for Delhi till April 6, thunderstorms for North India
Weather update: The IMD said the unusually rainy weather is expected to persist for the rest of the week and added that the skies in Delhi will remain cloudy till Monday, April 6.

After persistent rains for the last two days in the national capital, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted an extended spell of rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms across large parts of the country, driven by two active western disturbances currently influencing weather systems over northwest India. Moreover, the weather office said the unusually rainy weather is expected to persist for the rest of the week and added that the skies in Delhi will remain cloudy till Monday, April 6.
Temperature will be see a gradual rise
However, in the coming three days, the temperature will be see a gradual rise of around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD. The weather office stated that the national capital may witness very light to light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning and similar weather conditions may reappear around April 3 and 4.
The national capital over the past 24 hours recorded a slight fall in maximum temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures remained largely unchanged, according to IMD data.
However, no extreme weather is expected, the interplay of brief cooling, rising temperatures and intermittent rainfall is likely to keep conditions variable in the national capital over the next few days.
Rainfall, thunderstorm expected in coming days in North India
As per the latest forecast released by IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall activity accompanied by winds reaching 30 to 50 kmph is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and west Rajasthan with similar conditions extending to east Rajasthan on April 1.
The weather condition is expected to intensify again later this week under the influence of a fresh western disturbance. Rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds may affect Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, as well as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between April 3 and 6.
West Bengal, Sikkim may see rainfall till April 2
The weather office said the eastern and northeastern regions are also expected to witness active weather conditions. West Bengal and Sikkim may see light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms till April 2. The weather department has also warned of intense thunderstorm and lightning activity over central India till April 6, with isolated hailstorm events likely until April 2.
