Thane Municipal Council Result: Mahayuti scores impressive win in Ambernath and Kulgaon Badlapur

Maharashtra Local Body Polls Result: Thane District has 108 seats in two Municipal councils, 59 in Ambernath and 49 in Kulgaon Badlapur. This district does not have any Nagar Panchayat.

The Mahayuti coalition, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) registered a massive victory in Thane’s Kulgaon Badlapur and Ambarnath Municipal Councils. Eknath Shinde's Sena performed exceptionally and reclaimed its strong bastion in high-stakes election.

Thane district has 108 seats in two municipal corporations, 59 in Ambernath and 49 in Kulgaon Badlapur. This district does not have any Nagar Panchayat.

The counting of votes across 246 Municipal Councils and 42 Nagar Panchayats in Maharashtra started at 10 am. The election for these urban local bodies took place on December 2 and December 20. The counting was initially scheduled for December 3 but the Bombay High Court deferred it to December 21 after detecting widespread irregularities.

The elections span every division of the state: Konkan, Nashik, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar/Aurangabad, Amravati and Nagpur. Konkan division has seven districts– Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Thane, Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban. The polling, however, took place only in five districts, barring Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban.

    Kulgaon Badlapur MC results are out

    The results for the Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council, under Ambarnath Taluka, are also out. Shivsena has won 22 seats, BJP has also won 22 seats. NCP has won 3.

    Results for the Ambarnath Municipal Council are out. Congress wins 12 seats, NCP wins two. BJP wins eight. Shivsena has won 22 seats here.

    Local body polls: Maharashtra BJP chief claims decisive mandate for Mahayuti

    Amid counting of votes in the local body polls on Sunday, Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan claimed his party had got a decisive mandate as voters had rejected the Opposition's "fake narrative". He claimed the Mahayuti had won more than 250 councils, nagar parishads and nagar panchayats out of 288, with BJP candidates securing 134 out of 236 council chief posts and over 3,000 corporator seats.

    Shinde-led Shiv Sena secures majority in Palghar Municipal Council Elections

    The Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde registered a decisive victory in the Palghar Municipal Council elections, winning 19 out of the total 30 seats. BJP candidates claimed 8 seats, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) managed to secure only 3 seats. In a key contest, Shinde faction nominee Uttam Gharat emerged victorious, strengthening the party’s hold over the local civic body.

    BJP secures uncontested wins in in two municipal councils

    The Bharatiya Janata Party registered unchallenged victories in two municipal councils in Maharashtra. Prajakta Ajinkyarana Patil was chosen as the president of the Angar Nagar Panchayat in Solapur district without any opposition, while Sadhanatai Girish Mahajan was similarly elected unopposed as the president of the Jamner Municipal Council in Jalgaon district.

    Voting was postponed in several seats after the Bombay High Court flagged several irregularities. The polling, initially scheduled for December 3, took place on December 30. The voting took place at 23 municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
