Raigad and Palghar Local Body Election Results Highlights: BJP-led Mahayuti secures strong win

Results of all 30 seats in the Palghar Municipal Council are out. BJP has won eight seats, Shiv Sena has won 19, while Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackrey) has won three seats. Uttam Moreshwar Gharat has won the Presidential poll in the Council.

BJP has won 13 of the 19 seats on which results have been declared in Jawhar Municipal Council. NCP has won four, while Shivsena has won two seats. Pooja Kunal Udawant has won the Presidential poll in the Council.

The BJP has won 15 of the 25 seats on which results have been declared in the Dahanu Municipal Corporation. NCP (Sharad Pawar) has won eight, Shiv Sena has won two. Rajendra Lakhu Machhi has won the President poll in the Municipal Council.

Dahanu Municipal Council: Rajendra Macchi of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) emerged victorious.

Jawhar Municipal Council: Puja Udavant of the BJP secured a win.

Palghar Municipal Council: Uttam Ghart from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) registered a victory.

Wada Nagar Panchayat: BJP candidate Reema Gandhe won the seat.

Ajit Pawar's NCP secured a big win in Roha Municipality, claiming 18 out of 20 seats.

Amid counting of votes in the local body polls on Sunday, Maharashtra BJP president Ravindra Chavan claimed his party had got a decisive mandate as voters had rejected the Opposition's "fake narrative". He claimed the Mahayuti had won more than 250 councils, nagar parishads and nagar panchayats out of 288, with BJP candidates securing 134 out of 236 council chief posts and over 3,000 corporator seats.

The Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde registered a decisive victory in the Palghar Municipal Council elections, winning 19 out of the total 30 seats. BJP candidates claimed 8 seats, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) managed to secure only 3 seats. In a key contest, Shinde faction nominee Uttam Gharat emerged victorious, strengthening the party’s hold over the local civic body.

The Bharatiya Janata Party registered unchallenged victories in two municipal councils in Maharashtra. Prajakta Ajinkyarana Patil was chosen as the president of the Angar Nagar Panchayat in Solapur district without any opposition, while Sadhanatai Girish Mahajan was similarly elected unopposed as the president of the Jamner Municipal Council in Jalgaon district.

The Mahayuti alliance is leading in 9 municipal councils, while the Shiv Sena is ahead in 2 councils. In the Mahayuti alliance, BJP is leading on 7 municipal councils. The Congress lags behind with lead on just two.

The counting of votes across 294 Municipal Corporation and 17 Nagar Panchayat seats in Raigad and Palghar has begun. The counting exercise began at 10 am and trends will be available on Maharashtra Election Commission website.  

The result will be declared for 294 Municipal Corporations and 17 Nagar Panchayats in Raigad and Palghar districts. The voting for the high-stakes election took place on December 2 and December 20 in two phases.

Voting was postponed in several seats after the Bombay High Court flagged several irregularities. The polling, initially scheduled for December 3, took place on December 30. The voting took place at 23 municipal councils and nagar panchayats.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday held a meeting ahead of results of high-stakes Maharashtra local body polls. Discussions were also held over BMC polls. 

The second phase polling for the high-stakes Maharashtra local body election concluded on Saturday. The counting of votes and announcement of results for these seats will take place today along with the Phase 1 results.

The 2025 municipal elections in Maharashtra unfolded as a fiercely contested face-off between the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). While the primary battle lines were drawn between the two rival alliances, several constituencies also saw internal rivalries, with alliance partners testing each other’s strength.
