Karl Otto Lagerfeld, one of fashion industry's most renowned and influential names, passed away on Tuesday. He was 85. According to a report in French magazine Closer, the German-born designer passed away after prolonged illness.  Several celebrities such as Sushmita Sen, Victoria Beckham have taken to social media to pay tribute to the legendary fashion designer.

Creative director of the French luxury fashion house Chanel, Lagerfeld had taken over the prestigious fashion house in 1983, over a decade after Coco Chanel breathed her last. Lagerfeld was also the creative director of Fendi, the esteemed Italian fur and leather goods fashion house besides running his own eponymous fashion label.

Lagerfeld's health got his followers worried after the couturier missed Chanel Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019 show in January earlier this year.

According to a report in Harpers Bazaar, the designer continued to work even while he was grappling with illness. The report states that he was "giving his team instructions" pertaining to the Fendi autumn/winter 2019 show, which is scheduled for this Thursday, at Milan Fashion Week.

Designers, fashion connoisseurs and heavyweights from the world of entertainment regarded Lagerfeld as a fashion legend and rightly so. Lagerfeld, often grabbing attention with his signature style - ponytail, fingerless gloves and tinted sunglasses, had turned around the world of fashion with his creativity and ideas.
