Veteran Malayalam actor and film production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away on Sunday night. His brother, Major Ravi, announced the news of his demise in a Facebook post.

Veteran Malayalam actor and film production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away around 11:40 PM last night. His brother, Major Ravi, announced the news of his demise in a Facebook post.

Kannan Pattambi had been undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. The news of his demise has left the film fraternity in deep shock. 

Filmmaker Major Ravi confirms death of brother Kannan Pattambi

On Monday, he wrote in Malayalam, which translates to English as: "My dear brother, Kannan Pattambi, who was a film production controller, passed away at 11:41 PM last night. The funeral will be held at Pattambi's home in Njangattiri today at 4 PM. My younger brother, Kannan Pattambi, has left for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti (sic)."

Filmmaker Major Ravi also mentioned the funeral details, stating that it will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Kannan Pattambi's residence in Njangattiri, Pattambi.

Tributes pour in for Kannan Pattambi

Fans have expressed their grief over Kannan Pattambi's death on social media. One X user wrote, "Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kannan Pattambi, a versatile actor and production controller of Malayalam cinema. He will always be remembered for his acting in films like 'Pulimurugan' and 'Amen' and for his dedication behind the scenes. My deepest condolences to Major Ravi and his family (sic)."

Kannan Pattambi's notable projects

For the unversed, Kannan Pattambi was a renowned actor and production manager. Throughout his film career, he worked in several Malayalam films which features superstars such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, and others. His notable works include Kandahar (2010), Odiyan (2018), and Karma Yodha (2012). He featured in the 2012 movie Karma Yodha, where he co-starred with Mohanlal. The film was directed by his brother, Major Ravi.
