Khesari Lal Yadav hints at retirement from politics: 'Kalakaar hoon, rajneeti bas ka nahi'
Khesari Lal Yadav hinted at stepping away from politics. The actor-politician called himself an artist and said that politics is not for him, as it requires lying, while he believes in speaking the truth.

Popular Bhojpuri actor and politician Khesari Lal Yadav addressed the media and hinted at his retirement from politics. The actor-singer said that politics is not his cup of tea. He further added that one has to lie in politics, and he always believes in speaking the truth. Yadav also stated that he is an artist, and he should be seen and known that way.
For the unversed, Khesari Lal Yadav, whose real name is Shatrughan Yadav, contested the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 as an RJD candidate. He lost by 7600 votes to Chhoti Kumari from BJP.
Speculation around Khesari Lal Yadav joining the BJP had picked up pace recently. The conversation grew stronger after Bhojpuri actor Ritesh Pandey left Jan Suraj and Manoj Tiwari made certain statements, leading many to believe that Khesari Lal Yadav might join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). These reports created a lot of buzz on social media. Responding to the rumours, Khesari made his position clear and said he is not joining any political party. Speaking to the media, he said, “I am an artist and let me remain an artist. Politics is not my cup of tea because to make things work there, one often has to rely on lies, whereas I am someone who speaks the truth by nature.”
Khesari Lal Yadav also admitted that he had contested elections earlier, but that experience made him realise how difficult it is to hold on to truth and honesty in politics. He shared that he has now almost made up his mind to step away from politics and wants to focus entirely on music and acting.
Apart from politics, he was also asked about the ongoing divorce dispute between Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh and his wife Jyoti Singh. On this sensitive matter, Khesari chose to respond carefully and decided not to comment at all.
Looking back at past experiences, Khesari said that when he had earlier tried to speak on the issue, he faced heavy trolling on social media. He said, “This is Pawan Singh’s personal and family matter, and outside interference is not right.” He added that he too has a daughter, which makes him more mindful, and he does not want to say anything that could add to someone else’s family situation or create further controversy.
