New Delhi: There are numerous creatures around us on this Earth. Each is varied in it own kind. Some are small yet too hazardous, where as some are big yet harmless. There are some species which are venomous as well. One of such creatures is the snake.


Though most species of snakes are non-venomous and those that have venom use it primarily to kill and subdue prey rather than for self-defense. Some possess venom potent enough to cause painful injury or death to humans.

They eat rodents, frog, birds and other snakes and able to consume prey three times larger than the diameter of their head. Many snakes kill their prey with venom but some snakes are able to kill their prey with stress muscle.

Snakes also vary in lengths. Some are small while some are too long.

10. Indigo Snake

 

Indigo Snake is a species of large nonvenomous snake. This smooth-scaled snake is considered to be the longest native snake species in the United States. It is blue black in color. Though some of them have reddish orange color on throat, cheeks and chin. A mature male indogo snake weighs between 3.2-4.5kg while its length is between 7-7.7 ft. Whereas a mature female indigo snake weighs between 1.8-2.7kg while its length is around 6.6 ft. Indigo snakes have a a number of common names including indigo, blue indigo snake, black snake, blue gopher snake, and blue bull snake.
