Among the 30-share Sensex pack, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC, Wipro, HDFC Bank, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Power Grid, and ICICI Bank were the major laggards. ITC, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, and Hindustan Unilever were among the gainers in early trade.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the local currency was trading at 80.47 against the dollar, down 51 paise from its previous close.
Among the 30-share Sensex pack, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, HDFC, ICICI Bank, TCS, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were the biggest laggards. However, Nestle, Hindustan Unilever, Maruti, and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the gainers.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 79.81 against the greenback, then fell to 79.82, registering a decline of 8 paise over its last close.
All the 30-share Sensex pack of firms was trading in the green in early trade, with IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, and Tata Steel emerging as major winners.
From the Sensex pack, UltraTech Cement, Asian Paints, Titan, Dr. Reddy's, Tata Steel, HCL Technologies, Maruti, and ICICI Bank were the major laggards in early trade. Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, and State Bank of India were trading in the green.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 79.70 against the dollar, then touched 79.64 against the American currency, registering a gain of 14 paise over its previous close.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 79.80 against the greenback, then fell to 79.82, registering a decline of 11 paise over its last close.

The 30-share Sensex plunged 530.36 points or 0.88 percent to 60,040.72 points while the Nifty declined 150.75 points or 0.83 percent to 17,919.30 points.
At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 79.30 against the dollar, then touched 79.25 in initial deals, registering a gain of 28 paise over its previous close.
Asian markets, including South Korea and Hong Kong, were trading higher, and the US and European markets closed in the green territory.
