In an apparent damage control exercise, UP Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi and ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar met the family of the alleged gang-rape victim in Balrampur on Sunday. Speaking on the incident after meeting the family, ACS Home Awasthi said that they have assured the family that stringent action will be taken against the guilty.
The woman and her family had taken shelter at the marriage home on Mathura-Goverdhan road after their car developed a snag at night.
Amid the widespread outrage over the alleged gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras, an yet another scheduled caste 22-year-old Dalit woman died in Balrampur district while being rushed to a hospital after allegedly being raped by two men. The police have arrested two men in the case, one of them is a minor, based upon the statement of the victim's family.
