Telangana's municipal elections delivered a powerful political verdict, with the ruling Congress clinching a dominant performance across numerous municipalities and corporations. The outcome is viewed as strong public approval for Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's governance style, especially in cities where his urban-focused policies resonate deeply. Congress won over 190 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched around 75 seats.
Polls across urban local bodies drew vibrant voter turnout signalling civic enthusiasm, as early counts showed Congress surging in most wards while Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and BJP held ground in key areas. Observers see these local races as a mood indicator for state leadership, amplified by Congress's rollout of welfare programs and infrastructure upgrades that anchored their campaign pitch for seamless state-local synergy.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had earlier expressed confidence that the Congress will deliver strong results, while BJP leader G Kishan Reddy voiced optimism despite alleging misuse of power by the ruling party. Earlier, 29,656 booth-level officers were deployed for revision of the electoral rolls in the state.
