Congress too wants probe into allegations against ex-army chief

The probe report carried in indian Express newspaper Friday said state Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir had been paid to topple the state government. Mir has already denied the allegations asserting that he worked to defuse the volatile law and order situation in the Valley in 2010.

Asked if Mir should resign on moral grounds as he is in the state cabinet as a Congress nominee, Soz said the minister should be given a fair chance to defend himself.

”If he fails in defending himself, then we will take a decision at the party level. At this time, these are allegations and whether these will stand the scrutiny and test of time is to be seen,” he added.
