Patna: Seeking to turn the tables on Arvind Kejriwal on his stand against corruption, the BJP today asked the Aam Admi Party chief to explain why he gave ticket to ex-IAS official Yudhvir Singh Khayalia who had given clean chit to Robert Vadra in the controversial Haryana land deal.

“Why did Kejriwal give ticket to Khayalia to contest from Hisar despite the fact that the bureaucrat had given clean chit to Vadra in the land deal?” BJP national spokesperson and noted journalist M J Akbar asked.

“Not only that the retired IAS official has given clean chief to Vadra, but (he) also overturned his upright colleague Ashok Khemka's decision on the issue,” he said at a press conference.

The AAP chief must explain his decision to give ticket to Khayalia after questioning the BJP over its silence on the Vadra land deal case earlier, the BJP spokesperson said.

On Narendra Modi's invoking of the Ram Temple issue at Ayodhya yesterday, Akbar said Modi had only talked about ushering in ‘Ram Rajya' in the country which by no means should be understood as raking up the controversial issue for votes.

“The BJP prime ministerial candidate did not talk about temple at all, but ushering in ‘Ram Rajya' in the country which can not been deemed as raising religious issue,” he said.

Asked if his joining the BJP has helped the party woo the minorities, the journalist-turned-politician said he would be glad if that worked.

“However, I am not sure whether it has worked or not,” Akbar said.
