What will change with FASTag from February 17? Starting February 17, 2025, new FASTag rules will be enforced to ensure smooth toll transactions: If your FASTag remains blacklisted for more than 60 minutes before reaching a toll plaza, the payment will not be processed. If your FASTag was blacklisted at least 10 minutes before tag scanning, your toll payment will also be declined. However, there is a 70-minute window for users to rectify their FASTag status before crossing a toll booth.

How will this impact FASTag users? If your FASTag is blacklisted, making a last-minute recharge at the toll booth may not work.

Here’s how it will affect users: If your FASTag gets blacklisted before reaching the toll booth, even an instant recharge may not process the payment, leading to double toll charges. If your FASTag is blacklisted, but you recharge within 60 minutes of tag scanning or within 10 minutes of scanning, your payment will be processed normally. If you cross a toll plaza with a blacklisted FASTag, a double toll fee will be charged.

However, if you recharge within 10 minutes of tag scanning, you can request a penalty refund, helping you save money. Maintaining your FASTag balance is now crucial: To avoid extra toll charges, ensure your FASTag has sufficient balance before you begin your journey. If you’re traveling from home or office, make sure to recharge at least one hour in advance.

How to check your FASTag blacklist status? To check if your FASTag is blacklisted: Visit the official transport department website. Select the “Check E-Challan Status” option or a similar service. Enter your vehicle registration number. The system will display whether your vehicle’s FASTag is active or blacklisted.
