4th June 2017 marks the 81st birthday of the legendary actress Nutan. She was born to Bollywood actress Shobhna Samarth. Her Bollywood career extended for more than 4 decades with more than 70 films in her bag. She was considered to be one of the finest actresses Indian cinema has ever seen. In 1974, she was awarded with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India.
On her 81st birthday, let's rekindle some memories of golden era of cinema with these throwback pictures.
On the occasion of her birth anniversary, Google is paying their tribute to the veteran actress with an innovative Google Doodle. Omitting the two O's of the Google, it shows the actress Nutan expressing different emotions in the form of letter O.
Nutan tied the knot with naval Lieutenant-Commander Rajnish Bahl on 11 October 1959. They had a son whom we know as Mohnish Bahl, from their marriage.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990. In 1991, she succumbed to her cancer in Breach Candy Hospital. Her husband, Rajnish later died in a fire accident in 2004.
Nutan was always known for playing uncoventional roles. M.L. Dhawan from The Tribune wrote, "When squeakers and screamers ruled the roost, Nutan fine-tuned her dialogue delivery with an evocative voice. A natural throw was the hallmark of Nutan’s dialogue delivery. She was low key and mellow as she was peppery and sarcastic and yet made a strong impact."
Nutan's grandaughter, Pranutan is splitting-image of her grandmother. The gorgeous budding-actress is set to create waves in Bollywood with her unbelievable resemblance to grandmother, Nutan.
