Total 9,112 polling booths, of which 2,674 declared as critical, were guarded by 45,000 security personnel to ensure the free and fair poll.
First phase of polling in 20 of Rajasthan's 25 seats was held with an average of 63.63 per cent on April 17. An average of 62.9 per cent polling was held in both Ist and IInd phase in the state as against 48.4 per cent in 2009 LS polls. This time it was about 15 per cent higher, according to the CEO.
The CEO informed that Rs 1.05 crore cash was seized in preventive action during the electioneering period for the second phase.
Drugs worth Rs 1.12 crore under NDPS act and liquor worth Rs 5.01 crore were also seized during this period. There was 3828 cases of violation of Model Code of Conduct also, he said.
In all, in both the phases, Rs 6.14 crore in cash, liquor worth 17.12 crore and drug articles worth Rs 2.96 crore were seized across the state.
4500 FIRs were registered and 1217 persons were arrested under preventive action in both the phases. 115 cases of paid news and 21,136 of violation of Model Code of Conduct were found.
A total of 673 complaints related to the polls were filed with the election department and 437 of them have been redressed, the CEO said.
