Railway Recruitment Board has announced a relaxation in the upper age limit for the applications to 90,000 jobs in Indian Railways. The RRB has also said that the option of taking the recruitment exam in regional languages including Bangla and Malayalam would be made available. Also, Railways said that last date for submission of application would be extended suitably.

Ministry of Railway recently announced more than one lakh job openings for the Group C Level II posts like Assistant Loco Pilots, Technicians (Fitter, Crane Driver, Blacksmith, and Carpenter) and Group C Level I (Erstwhile Group D) posts like Track maintainer, Pointsman, Helper, Gateman, Porter.

Interested candidates with class 10 to engineering qualifications may visit Railway Recruitment Board websites to complete the application formalities. 

This recruitment drive is open for candidates who have passed Class 10 and ITI for Group C Level I posts, and Class 10 and ITI or diploma in engineering or a graduation in engineering for Group C Level II posts like Assistant Loco Pilots, Technicians and aspire to join Indian Railways.

In the fresh development, Railway relaxed the age limit in all categories. 

“In the exam for assistant loco pilots and loco pilot, the revised upper age limit for the unreserved category has been fixed at 30 years, while it was 28 earlier. For OBCs it has been revised to 33 years from the earlier 31 years. For the SC and ST category, the age relaxation has been fixed at 35 years from the present 33,” said Railway statement. 

Similarly, for the Group D exams for the unreserved category, the upper age limit has been fixed at 30 years from 28 years.

For OBCs, the age limit has been revised to 36 years from 34 years, for SC and STs it has been hiked from 36 years to 38 years.

Railways also decided that the questions in regional languages like Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Odia, Telugu, Bangla and others will be available for candidates to take the exam.

Ministry of Railways has published a notification no. CEN 01/2018 for Group C Level II Categories posts for the candidates in the age group of 18-28 years who have passed Class X and have an industrial training certificate (ITI) or diploma in engineering or a graduation in engineering.

The notification no. CEN 02/2018 about Group C Level I (Erstwhile Group D) posts for candidates in the age group of 18-31 years and who have passed Class X and have an industrial training certificate (ITI). The notifications have already been uploaded on RRB Websites. The link of the website is as follows:
