The counting of votes at Telangana's Nalgonda Municipal Corporation has been completed across all 48 wards. The Congress has registered a decisive victory, securing 27 wards and emerging as the single largest party. Nalgonda went to the polls for the first time after being upgraded to a Municipal Corporation, as the contest for the inaugural mayor’s post has become a matter of prestige for Congress, BJP and BRS. Polling was held on February 11 across the district. Nalgonda Municipal Corporation consists of six municipalities namely Chandur (10 wards), Chityal (12 wards), Devarakonda (20 wards), Haliya (12 wards), Miryalguda (48 wards), and Nandikonda (12 wards).

In the Ramagundam Corporation, the Congress party is leading with around 34 seats while BRS is with 13 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 1 and others are on 4.

The BJP is currently leading in 8 wards (3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 22, 23 and 24), while the Congress is leading in 5 wards (2, 9, 10, 12 and 33) in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation (60). 

The ruling Congress is headed for a clean sweep in seven municipal corporations of Telangana by gaining a strong leads on 102, which includes wins also as per the latest counting trends. Opposition's BRS is leading in 28 seats while the BJP is only ahead on 9 seats.

In the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation, which has a total of 66 wards, the BJP has taken a significant lead, moving ahead in 16 wards. The party is leading in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 12, 22, 29, 35, 36, 38, 41, 42, 55, 56, 62 and 63.

Congress is currently leading in 6 wards, namely 9, 11, 23, 30, 33 and 44. Meanwhile, BRS is ahead in 3 wards, which include 31, 32 and 40. Independents are leading in 3 wards, specifically 10, 34 and 39. AIMIM has also made gains and is leading in 2 wards, 37 and 61.

In Kothagudem Corporation, which has 60 wards, CPI has taken an early lead with 6 seats, while Congress, BRS and BJP are yet to open their accounts.

In the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation election results, BJP candidates are leading in multiple wards. Bari Aparna is ahead in Ward 1, Kolagani Srinivas is leading in Ward 2, Sadineni Lavanya is in front in Ward 3, and Bhupathi Ravinder is leading in Ward 4.

Congress appears to be heading for a clean sweep in the Telangana municipal elections 2026, taking the lead in 30 seats across 7 municipal corporations, signalling a strong performance for the party in urban local bodies and putting it comfortably ahead of its rivals BRS and BJP in the latest round of counting.

Congress is maintaining a comfortable leads acorss the 7 municipal corporations in Telangana with leads in 10 seats, while the BRS is ahead in only 2. Congress in leading in 5 seats in Ramagundam, 2 each in Nalgonda and Mancherial, one in Mahbubnagar Municipal Corporations.

Out of 59 wards declared in Ranga Reddy district, Congress has won 24 seats, while Bharat Rashtra Samithi is close behind with 23. The BJP has secured 7 wards and Independents have won 5. The figures reflect a closely fought contest between Congress and BRS in the district.

In the Telangana municipality ward results declared so far, 938 of 2582 wards have been announced as of 11:20 am, with Congress leading in 506 wards, BRS in 282, BJP in 74, and Others in 76.

Congress candidate Padiga Shankar won Ward 21 of Nagarkurnool by a narrow margin of 48 votes, underscoring a closely contested race. In Ward 6, Congress candidate Makkapalli Srinivas secured victory with a margin of 94 votes.

Meanwhile, in Ward 1, BRS candidate Chattamoni Arjunayya recorded a decisive win with a margin of 475 votes. In Ward 2, BRS candidate Thimmajipeta Pandu triumphed by 82 votes, indicating a split mandate in the municipality.

In the 2020 elections to the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation in Telangana, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, now known as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, emerged as the single largest party.

Out of 60 divisions in the corporation, TRS won 26 seats while the BJP won 25 seats. Congress could only secure 7 seats. The results led to a closely contested scenario, with BRS eventually forming the administration with support from other members.

In the 2020 elections to the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in Telangana, the then ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, now known as the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, secured a clear majority.

Out of 60 divisions in the corporation:

• TRS won 33 seats
• Bharatiya Janata Party won 13 seats
• Indian National Congress won 8 seats
• Others and independents secured the remaining seats

The results consolidated the TRS position in Karimnagar at the time, although the BJP emerged as a significant opposition force in the corporation.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi candidate Kondigari Thrilok Kumar has won Ward 12 of the Ibrahimpatnam municipality in the ongoing municipal election results. The victory adds to the party’s tally as counting continues across the state.

In the previous municipal elections held in 2020, the BRS had secured 16 wards in the Ibrahimpatnam municipality.

The BJP has alleged discrepancies in the counting of votes at several booths during the Telangana municipal polls. Party leaders have decided to meet Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy to raise the issue.

Telangana Election Results: Congress candidate B Rama Devi wins Ward Number 58 in the Mahabubnagar Municipal Corporation.

Congress candidate Madipalli Vijaya has won uncontested in Wad Number 1 in the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation. The Congress is also leading in one ward of Mahbubnahar Municipal Corporation.

Vote counting for 116 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations in Telangana began amid tight security arrangements. The exercise is being conducted at designated counting centres across the state.

The BRS on Thursday submitted a representation to Hyderabad Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat, seeking action over alleged attacks during the Telangana municipal polls.

Isolated incidents of clashes were reported from some parts of the state. Police intervened in Karimganj after workers of the BRS and the BJP clashed.

Police on Thursday registered a criminal case against Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind and several others for allegedly intimidating police personnel and election staff at a polling station during the municipal elections.

The MP was booked under Sections 132, assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging duty, and 223, disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Telangana Municipalities Act.

Among the municipal corporations, Nalgonda recorded the highest turnout at 77.36%. The strong participation points to heightened political engagement in the area. Political parties are closely watching such regions, where turnout patterns could significantly influence the final outcome.

Elections for the municipal corporations of Hyderabad (GHMC), Warangal, and Khammam, along with six specific municipalities, are not included in this phase as their terms have not yet expired.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy cast his vote in Kodangal in Vikarabad district. Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar voted in Karimnagar.

State Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed confidence that the Congress would win the polls, while BJP leader and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy said the party would secure favourable results despite levelling allegations against the ruling party.

The outcome is being seen as a crucial test for the Congress, the BJP and the BRS.

The counting process will commence at 8 am. Ward-wise results will be published on the official website of the Telangana State Election Commission at tsec.gov.in.

Voting was held across 7 municipal corporations in Telangana on Wednesday, February 11. The 7 corporations that went to the polls are Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Ramagundam, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Mancherial and Kothagudem.
