To ensure a fair process, the Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) utilised ballot papers for these elections and implemented full webcasting at polling stations. Over 41,000 personnel were deployed statewide to manage the 123 urban local bodies, with Nalgonda receiving focused security due to its high-profile contests. Authorities reported that the polling on February 11 passed off peacefully without the need for re-polling in the corporation.

The 2026 election witnessed a fierce three-way battle between the ruling Indian National Congress (INC), the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also fielded candidates in several wards, particularly in areas like Ward No. 26 and 44. Key local figures, including Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy heavily campaigned for Congress candidates.

Nalgonda Municipal Corporation recorded the highest voter turnout among all seven municipal corporations in Telangana, with a polling percentage of 77.36%. As per the State Election Commission, a total of 1,10,194 voters cast their ballots across 199 polling stations. Experts believe this high participation reflects intense local mobilisation and significant interest in civic issues such as drinking water supply and drainage infrastructure.

The counting of votes for the Nalgonda Municipal Corporation election is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am today. Results are expected to be declared by the evening of the same day. This follows the single-phase polling held on February 11 across 48 wards of the corporation. The newly elected corporators will be administered their oath of office at 11:00 am on February 16, followed by the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor at 12:30 pm. 

The voter base in Nalgonda is diverse, with a significant representation of various socio-economic groups. As per the State Election Commission, total voter strength across individual wards typically ranges between 2,500 and 2,800 voters. Statewide trends during this election showed a higher turnout among women (73.39%) compared to men (72.63%), a pattern that was also reflected in Nalgonda's high overall participation.

Nalgonda serves as the headquarters for the Nalgonda district and is a major urban hub located approximately 90 kilometres from Hyderabad. The corporation is divided into 48 wards, which are categorised based on demographics, including Scheduled Caste (SC), Backward Class (BC), and General categories. For example, Ward No. 2 is reserved for SC candidates, while Ward No. 44 and 46 fall under the BC category.
