GHMC to be split into three corporations
The Telangana State government has issued an official order to divide the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate civic bodies, Greater Hyderabad, Malkajgiri and Cyberabad. The move is aimed at improving administration and managing the growing urban population more effectively. The government has also appointed commissioners for all three newly formed corporations.

BRS seeks action against Gadwal MLA
Telangana election LIVE: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has filed a complaint with the Telangana State Election Commission, demanding action against Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy. The party alleged that he continued campaigning and meeting voters during the 48-hour silence period, after the official campaign deadline had ended. BRS leaders claimed the MLA used his position to influence voters and tried to create pressure and inducement ahead of polling.

Polling for 123 urban local bodies in Telangana underway
Voting has begun in Telangana for elections to 123 urban local bodies. Polls are being held today for 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations, with over 52 lakh voters expected to take part. Voting started at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm, while the counting of votes will be held on February 13. The contest in most urban local bodies is expected to be mainly between the Congress, BRS and BJP. The State Election Commission has made arrangements at more than 8,000 polling stations and deployed over 41,000 polling personnel to ensure smooth and peaceful voting.

Telangana LIVE: The SEC said 41,773 polling personnel have been deployed and over 16,000 ballot boxes are in use. During Model Code enforcement, authorities seized Rs 1.05 crore in cash and other items including liquor and drugs.
