Rangareddy Municipal Election Results 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won two wards - Ward 1 and Ward 3, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) - formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi has secured victory in three wards.

The counting of votes for Amangal, Chevella, Ibrahimpatnam, Shadnagar, Moinabad and Shankarpally municipalities in Telangana’s Rangareddy district is underway.  Amangal municipality has a total of 15 wards, Ibrahimpatnam has 24 wards, Shadnagar has 28 wards, and Shankarpally has 15 wards. Chevella and Moinabad are two newly constituted municipalities of the district. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won two wards - Ward 1 and Ward 3, while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) - formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi has secured victory in three wards - Ward 2, Ward 4 and Ward 5 - in Amangal municipality of  Rangareddy district. In the previous municipal elections held in 2020, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emerged victorious in Amngal municipality by winning 12 seats. In Ibrahimpatnam, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) - formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi - won 16 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured two seats. In Shadnagar municipality, BRS won 19 seats, and Congress managed to win two. In Shankarpally, BRS registered victory in 10 wards and the Congress on three.

Telangana Municipal Polling Records 73.01% Turnout

Earlier, polling for 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across Telangana concluded peacefully on Wednesday, with more than 52 lakh voters casting their ballots. Voting began at 7 am and continued until 5 pm. The counting of votes is scheduled for February 13. The elections are being seen as a key political test for the ruling Congress, the opposition BJP, and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

According to the State Election Commission (SEC), 73.01 per cent voter turnout was recorded. The polls were largely peaceful, except for minor skirmishes in a few areas. Khammam and Kothagudem districts witnessed strong participation, with over 82 per cent polling in Khammam and 73 per cent in Kothagudem by 5 pm.

    Chevella (18): Congress 4, BRS 4, BJP 1 and Others 0.

    Ibrahimpatnam (24): Congress 6, BRS 7, BJP 2 and Others 1.

    Moinabad (26): Congress 5, BRS 3, BJP 2 and Others 3.

    Shadnagar (28): Congress 8, BRS 4, BJP 1 and Others 0.

    BJP wins 2 wards, BRS grabs 3 in Rangareddy's Amangal municipality

    Congress wins Ward 5 in Rangareddy's Shadnagar municipality

    Congress candidate Singapagaa Shirisha has won Ward 5 of the Shadnagar municipality. The party had won 2 wards in this municipality in the last elections, held in 2020. The ward was reserved for SC (Women).

    Congress candidate Mohammed Irfan Khan has won Ward 1 of the Shadnagar municipality. The party had won 2 wards in this municipality in the last elections, held in 2020.

    BRS wins one ward in Rangareddy's Ibrahimpatnam municipality

    Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) candidate Kondigari Thrilok Kumar has won ward number 12 of the Ibrahimpatnam municipality. The party had won 16 wards in 2020.

    In Shankarpally municipality of Rangareddy, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) - formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi - had won 10 out 30 wards in 2020. The Congress had won three wards.

    In Shadnagar municipality of Rangareddy, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) - formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi - had won 19 out 28 wards in 2020. The Congress had won two and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won one.
