Carlos Alcaraz equals Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal's historic record as he enters in maiden Australian Open semis
Carlos Alcaraz continued his dream run in the Australian Open 2026 as he entered the semifinals at Melbourne Park for the first time in his career. Alcaraz, who is yet to drop a set, has equalled a historic record with his maiden SF appearance in Australia.

Spanish sensation Carlos Alcaraz has equalled a historic record jointly held by legends Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, and Boris Becker as he made his way into the Australian Open semifinals for the first time in his career. The World No.1 Alcaraz defeated Australian favourite Alex de Minaur in straight sets 7-5, 6-2, 6-1.
With his win, the 22-year-old Alcaraz has reached his 10th Grand Slam semifinal. He has equalled the record for most Grand Slam semifinal appearances before turning 23 in the Open Era and is now tied with the likes of Borg, Nadal and Becker.
Most semifinal appearances before turning 23:
Carlos Alcaraz: 10
Bjorn Bog: 10
Rafael Nadal: 10
Boris Becker: 10
Alcaraz achieves more records
Alcaraz, who is yet to drop a single set in this Australian Open, has achieved a few more records. The Spaniard has become the second-youngest man to reach into 10 Grand Slam semifinals in the Open Era, only older than Rafael Nadal. He was 22 years and 258 days old when he moved into his maiden Australian Open and 10th Major semifinal, while Nadal was 22 years, 7 months and 25 days when he made his way into the Australian Open 2009 semifinal.
With his entry into the semifinals at Melbourne Park, the Spaniard has now reached the last four of all four Majors. He is not the third youngest to achieve this feat, older than only Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
Youngest to reach the semifinals of all four Grand Slams:
1 - Novak Djokovic: 20 years and 237 days
2 - Rafael Nadal: 22 years and 83 days
3 - Carlos Alcaraz: 22 years and 258 days
4 - Jim Courier: 22 years and 208 days
5 - Jannik Sinner: 23 years and 10 days

Hunting history, Alcaraz shows top game against De Minaur
Meanwhile, Alcaraz is hunting for his first-ever Australian Open title and complete a Career Grand Slam. He has won six Grand Slams, two each at Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open, but a win in Australia will make him the youngest man to complete a Career Grand Slam.
He was on top of his game in the quarterfinal. He broke the Australian seven times and lost his serve only twice in the match. He faced a challenge in the first set as he was broken twice, but cruised his way through to the semifinal without losing his serve further and winning the match in straight sets. Alcaraz will be up against 2025 runner-up Alexander Zverev in the semifinal.
