Australian Open 2025 final Highlights: Jannik Sinner wins Australian Open 2025 after beating Zverev

Jannik Sinner is the winner of the Australian Open 2025. He holds his serve successfully. Infact, Sinner has not faced even a single break point in this final. What a game for him. He is the first Italian to win 3 Major singles.

Sinner breaks Zverev twice in the third set and he leads the tally 5-2. He is just 1 set away from winning it, Zverev serving to stay in the set, match and final.

Looks like Zverev is running out of gas a bit. Sinner leads the third set 3-2 after both players keep holding their serves.

The defending champion wins the tie-breaker and the second set. This set lasted for 72 minutes and tested both the players. Sinner emerges out and takes a 2-0 lead in this final. He is one set away from defending his Australian Open title.

Sinner manages to hold twice when he was serving for the set. Zverev would have thought he could have finally broke Sinner to take the second but Sinner finds it enough for a hold. 

Neither of them can break the other. Zverev holds his serve to 30 as Sinner clutches his hamstring a bit. There are signs he might be having an issue there. However, he holds his serve to 15 as Zverev sends a forehand long.

Both the players are holding their serves currently. Zverev is not able to find a break.

Sinner has taken the first set on his serve. Zverev now needs to dig deep and find more motivation. He currently leads in second set on his serve 2-1. Had to save a couple of break points and he does that.

Jannik Sinner might have won the most important game of the set and probably the contest after holding it again in the seventh game, his serve. Sinner served a backhand winner to create a difference and then a forehand pass to eventually break to take what could possibly be a decisive lead in the first set.

After Sinner was able to hold it again, Zverev came up with a couple of aces to hold it for the third time and the scoreline read 3-3 after as many serves for the top two seeds as it was proving to be humdinger of an encounter.

After a long 23-shot rally, Sinner managed to hold to win the second point before taking an early lead in Zverev's second serve. Sinner was inching closer to breaking it but somehow Zverev managed to hold it after being 15-40 down.

Zverev held but had to work hard for it. There were a couple of unforced errors from Sinner but Zverev with his backhand winner didn't let it break and held it to 1-1.

Jannic Sinner held the serve comfortably to earn the first point on the board. A couple of serves up the T and he was off and running. Zverev did respond after being 0-40 down but didn't really make it count. Sinner 1-0 ahead.

Zverev won the toss and chose to receive. Sinner will serve and will hope for an early lead.

Sinner arrives amid much fanfare while Zverev has his set of supporters at the Rod Laver Arena as this one promises to be a thrilling encounter. The top two seeds in a Grand Slam final? What can be better?

Sinner and Zverev have taken on each other on six occasions in the past and the German player is ahead on the count 4-2. Sinner won the first-ever encounter between the duo in Roland Garros back in 2020 before Zverev won four in a row in Cologne, US Open, Monte Carlo and US Open once again in 2023. Sinner had the first and the last laugh, this time in a semi-final in the Cincinnati Open. Can he make hay while the Australian sun shines?

Zverev's semi-final became more about Novak Djokovic's withdrawal more than him winning the first set before the withdrawal. Zverev had to work his way up to the final. He was challenged to a fourth set by Tommy Paul in the quarters and similarly in the fourth round by France's Ugo Humbert and hence, has been battle-hardened for the final. Can he continue his good streak against Sinner and deny him the double peat?

Jannic Sinner was challenged by Holger Rune, the Danish star a bit in the fourth round, however, the Italian has proven to be too good for his opponents as he aims for his back-to-back Australian Open title in men's singles. Having beaten Alex de Minaur and Ben Shelton in quarters and semis in straight sets, Sinner looks good and confident to make it two in a row as he takes on Alexander Zverev.
