When will Wanindu Hasaranga join LSG squad for IPL 2026? Tom Moody shares major update
Wanindu Hasaranga will miss IPL 2026, with LSG confirming he won’t join the squad. Tom Moody revealed the franchise is already planning ahead and is in the final stages of naming a replacement, expected to be announced within 24–48 hours.

Sri Lanka international Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the IPL 2026. Lucknow Super Giants’ Global Director of Cricket, Tom Moody, confirmed the development during the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. The former Australia international noted that the franchise is finalising a replacement and an announcement can be made in the next couple of days.
“We are sort of preparing for him not going to be available for us. So, we are in the process of finalising a replacement that will be announced in next 24-48 hours,” Moody said while speaking to the commentators.
Moody also shares update on Mohsin Khan
Mohsin Khan had to miss the entire IPL 2025, owing to injury. This year, he was deemed fit ahead of the season and in Lucknow’s opening game, the left-arm seamer had a terrific outing, picking up one wicket for just 19 runs in his four overs. Following which, Mohsin was expected to have a breakthrough season, but he suffered an injury again and has been out of action since.
Sharing an update on him, Moody noted that the pacer has some stiffness and that the team management doesn’t want to push him at the moment.
“He had a bit of stiffness after the first game. We didn’t want to push him so hopefully he should be back sooner rather than later,” Moody shared.
LSG beat KKR at Eden Gardens
Lucknow Super Giants picked up their second win of the season, beating KKR by three wickets at Eden Gardens. The match was dragged to the final ball, after both Ayush Badoni and Mukul Choudhary played some phenomenal cricket in the middle. After Badoni departed, the match seemed out of LSG's reach but Mukul launched a scathing attack to get the job done. KKR, on the other hand, remain winless in IPL 2026.
