New Delhi:

Nepal signed off their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on a high with a spirited victory over Scotland, securing a rare and morale-boosting win in the tournament. In what was a dead rubber clash with both sides already out of Super Eight contention, Nepal produced one of their most complete performances to restore pride and reward their passionate supporters.  Nepal had not tasted a win at the T20 World Cup since their dream debut in 2014, when they defeated Afghanistan and the Netherlands. But the Rhinos ended that drought in style, signing off from this edition with a stirring victory in front of more than 19,000 fans at the Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 171, Nepal produced a composed yet aggressive reply, reaching 171/3 in 19.2 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee led the charge with a blistering unbeaten 50 off just 23 balls, smashing three sixes and four fours to anchor the chase. He found strong support from Kushal Bhurtel, whose fluent 43 provided the early momentum. Gulshan Jha then applied the finishing touches with an unbeaten 24, striking two towering sixes during a decisive 73-run fourth-wicket stand that sealed the result.

Earlier, Bhurtel enjoyed a slice of luck when Brad Currie spilled a return catch, and the opener capitalised immediately by launching a massive six over long-on in the next over. Nepal began cautiously under scoreboard pressure but shifted gears once settled. Aasif Sheikh chipped in with a brisk 33, including a six over fine leg, before Bhurtel tore into Mark Watt, plundering two sixes and a four in a 23-run over. Although Scottish spinners briefly stemmed the flow and picked up key wickets, Nepal maintained composure to script a memorable and long-awaited triumph.
