MI vs RCB IPL 2026 Highlights: Bengaluru beat Mumbai by 18 runs, return to winning ways

RCB have won this by 18 runs in the end. They would have fancied for a bigger margin than this, but Sherfane Rutherford put in some good work with the bat at the latter part of this innings. He made 71 from 31 balls and ensured his side got closer to 240. This has saved some NRR for MI, who suffer third straight loss this season.

Sherfane Rutherford put in some fight there. He is closing in on fifty. But MI need 46 from the last over. A big loss for MI this one.

RCB are going to win this by a handsome margin now, which is set to boost their Net run rate. MI are in all sorts and this would hamper their NRR. MI need 75 from 18 balls.

Another one bites the dust as Naman Dhir has been dismissed. Rasikh gets the wicket and he is pumped up. This might have rushed on the batter, who hit this to covers. MI now five down, Santner is in, no Rohit yet.

Rasikh is now cramping as he is down, having some pickle juice. The umpires took the time-out in between and at the restart, Rasikh has been hit for a huge six. He is down again. 

And it's all going worse for MI now. They are staring down the barrel as Hardik Pandya has been dismissed too. He threw the kitchen sink at this one from Duffy and ends up top-edging this to deep backward point. MI 147/4 after 15. 

Another blow to MI as Suryakumar Yadav has been dismissed. This was a bit slower one from Krunal as Surya went for the slog sweep. He could not clear the distance as the deep backward square leg fielder Rasikh takes this. MI 122/3 after 12.2.

A bit of a move on from MI here as the last two overs have brought 23 runs. 14 came from Suyash's over, nine from Bhuvneshwar's as MI cross 100. But they are still behind the eight ball. MI 108/2 after 11.

RCB bowlers, and particularly Krunal Pandya, are doing so well. He has given just 21 in his three overs in a game where his team made 240/3. MI are two down and also don't know about the injury extent of Rohit Sharma. They are at 85/2 after 9 overs.

MI have lost two wickets here in matter of no time. Rickelton was caught at short third, and now Tilak Varma has been caught at fine leg. Rohit is already off the field. Not good signs for MI. They are at 74/2 after 7.5 overs and the RR is now close to 14 already.

Rohit seems to be struggling with his right hamstring. He needs attention from the physio. And off he goes. He has been retired hurt on 19 from 13 balls as Suryakumar comes in. Hopefully, he would be fine soon. Meanwhile, MI 62/0 after 6 overs.

Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma take the Mumbai Indians off to a fine start. They have made 48 from the first four overs but need many of those if they have to go closer to this target. The team fifty is now up in 4.3 overs as Krunal Pandya is in for his first over. 

And the chase is here. MI openers Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma are out in the middle. Rickelton takes the strike with Duffy to begin for RCB. And it's a fine start. A four and a six from the first over as MI are up and running at 10/0 after 1.

And RCB have put up a pretty big total here. David hit a six on the final ball of the innings. RCB get to 240/4 in their 20 overs. Salt, Patidar and Kohli were the stars. David helped with the finish as RCB would feel they have enough on the board.

Boult comes in for the final over and gets a wicket on the second ball. He plumbs Jitesh in front and gets the RCB wicketkeeper for 10. RCB 231/4 after 19.2

After a bit of a quiet period, RCB are smoking big runs again. Hardik has given away a four and a six off a no-ball. This is turning out to be a big over. Hardik also called the physio for some treatment, but he is good to go. A change of ball here as the previous one got wet. 

Patidar gets to his fifty. He went hard on this and got an outside edge as it raced to the third man fence. A 17-ball fifty for Patidar. RCB inch closer to 200. And he falls. Patidar holes this out to long-on and has been dismissed for 53. 

And Kohli gets to his fifty. This has been strongly anchored by him as he held one end up while Phil Salt and Rajat Patidar were going all guns blazing. He gets to his fifty off 37 balls. RCB inch closer towards 200. And Kohli departs. He has been caught out to long-on on this full tos. 

RCB are closing in on their 200 as Patidar is not dropping the ante. He has raced to 46 off just 13 balls with five sixes and three fours. Kohli is anchoring this and is on 49 from 35 balls with five fours and a boundary.

No gear 1,2,3 or 4. RCB captain Rajat Patidar has begun his innings on the fifth gear. He slams a four off Shardul and then three straight sixes off Markande in the next one. He is on 23 runs from six balls. Kohli is pleased at the other end.

Shardul, also called the Lord, is here in the 11th over. This is his first over as he looks to put a halt to this flow of runs. He goes wide a couple of times, but starts well against Kohli. And he gets the big wicket. Salt is gone for 78 off 36 balls. 

RCB are absolutely bossing this currently. They took 10 runs from the ninth over of Santner as RCB cross 100. Salt is nearing his own 100 here.

Salt is in no mood to stop today. He is smashing everyone that is coming his way. He bow dispatches Markande for 20 in his first over. Three fours, one six and two singles. RCB 95/0 after 8. 

And Salt brings up his fifty. A 25-ball half ton for the RCB opener as he has been doing so well here at Wankhede. He had hit three sixes and a four off Santner in a single over and has decimated MI's bowling plans. RCB going strong at 75/0 after 7. 

Phil Salt is off to a flying start at Wankhede. He has scored 47 from 22 balls in the first six overs, while Kohli has made 22 from 14 balls. RCB have bossed the powerplay as they have made 71/0 after the six overs. This included 16 runs off Bumrah's two overs.

This is a strong start by RCB. After a 13-run opening over, they took nine from Hardik Pandya's second. And now RCB are bossing Boult again. 

Kohli is up and running with a six. A fuller inswinger flicked to the deep mid-wicket area for a six. Salt punches one to covers for a four. RCB are up and running after taking 13 from the first over.

"Obviously would have bowled first. But as you all know, it’s a good batting track. The ball comes nicely onto the bat with good bounce. So honestly, it won’t make too much difference. We’ll try to put a good total on the board and keep them under pressure. This is our fourth game. The way we’ve played the last few matches, there are a lot of positives. In the last match, we were 97 for 6 and still managed to score over 200. That’s a positive sign for us. We enjoy it a lot here. Whenever we come, we see great crowds. It’s challenging, but at the same time, fun and exciting. Just one change, Duffy comes in place of Hazlewood," Rajat Patidar said at the toss.

"We’re going to bowl first. Looks like a good track. We played the first game on the other pitch, this looks similar. It’s always good to bat second here. I think it’s a big game. Just want to come out and play our best cricket, do the things we’ve spoken about in the meetings, and just enjoy the sport. We requested good wickets and we’ve been getting them. As long as you land the ball right as a bowler and play the right shots as a batter, you’re in the game. Over the years at Wankhede, chasing has worked for a lot of teams. Being our home ground, dew comes in later as well. So it’s good to know what you’re chasing, you can plan your innings accordingly. Mayank Markande and Mitchell Santner come in for Chahar and Ghazanfar," Hardik said at the toss.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has won the toss, and he has opted to bowl first. MI have brought back Mitchell Santner for Ghazanfar. Mayank Markande is in for Deepak Chahar. Big news, Hazlewood is out for Duffy.

We are moments away from the toss of this much-awaited clash. For the unversed, MI and RCB will meet each other twice this season. The other game between these two sides is lined up to take place on May 10.

MI and RCB come into this clash on the back of their defeats to Rajasthan Royals. Both of them ran against a swashbuckling 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed both Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood for fun. Neither of these two could have stopped him. Now they will look to bounce back and return to winning ways.
