MI vs RCB IPL 2026 Highlights: Bengaluru beat Mumbai by 18 runs, return to winning ways
MI vs RCB IPL 2026 Highlights: Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs to bounce back from their defeat to Rajasthan Royals. RCB made 240/4 before restricting MI to 222/5 at the Wankhede Stadium

Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a commanding all-round display to defeat the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in Match 20 of IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on April 11. Batting first, RCB dominated from the outset. Phil Salt launched a brutal assault, racing to a 25-ball fifty as the visitors piled on 71 runs in the powerplay. With Virat Kohli playing the anchor’s role, Salt dismantled the spinners, smashing Mitchell Santner and Mayank Markande with ease. After his dismissal, skipper Rajat Patidar maintained the momentum with a blistering 53 off just 20 balls, while Kohli contributed a steady 50. Late fireworks from Tim David (34 off 16) powered RCB to 240/3 — the highest IPL total recorded at the venue.
In response, MI suffered an early setback as Rohit Sharma retired hurt with a hamstring issue. Wickets fell in clusters, with Suyash Sharma striking twice and Krunal Pandya delivering a crucial spell, including the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. Hardik Pandya also fell at a critical juncture, denting the chase. Despite late resistance from Sherfane Rutherford and Santner, MI fell short at 222/5. There were also concerns as Kohli remained off the field during the chase with an apparent ankle issue.

Patidar also wanted to bowl, confirms Hazlewood's absence
"Obviously would have bowled first. But as you all know, it’s a good batting track. The ball comes nicely onto the bat with good bounce. So honestly, it won’t make too much difference. We’ll try to put a good total on the board and keep them under pressure. This is our fourth game. The way we’ve played the last few matches, there are a lot of positives. In the last match, we were 97 for 6 and still managed to score over 200. That’s a positive sign for us. We enjoy it a lot here. Whenever we come, we see great crowds. It’s challenging, but at the same time, fun and exciting. Just one change, Duffy comes in place of Hazlewood," Rajat Patidar said at the toss.

Hardik opted to bowl, confirmed two changes for MI
"We’re going to bowl first. Looks like a good track. We played the first game on the other pitch, this looks similar. It’s always good to bat second here. I think it’s a big game. Just want to come out and play our best cricket, do the things we’ve spoken about in the meetings, and just enjoy the sport. We requested good wickets and we’ve been getting them. As long as you land the ball right as a bowler and play the right shots as a batter, you’re in the game. Over the years at Wankhede, chasing has worked for a lot of teams. Being our home ground, dew comes in later as well. So it’s good to know what you’re chasing, you can plan your innings accordingly. Mayank Markande and Mitchell Santner come in for Chahar and Ghazanfar," Hardik said at the toss.
