India vs West Indies, 2nd ODI Highlights: India beat West Indies by 44 runs, take 2-0 lead in series

  • West Indies all out for 193 Prasidh Krishna takes the final wicket of the match as India beat West Indies by 44 runs to take 2-0 lead in the series. Krishna took a four-wicket haul while Shardul Thakur took two. Chahal, Sundar, Hooda and Siraj also chipped in with one wicket each.
  • West Indies 193/9 after 45 overs: Odean Smith OUT! Virat Kohli takes superb catch. The ball went miles in the air. Odean Smith and Alzarri Joseph were stretching the game for West Indies. Smith had hit two sixes and a four. Joseph is taking singles. Brilliant over by Sundar. India now have two overs of Prasidh Krishna and one each from Siraj and Thakur. Sundar will have to bowl one more.
  • West Indies 171/8 after 40 overs: WICKET - Akeal Hosein gone! Lord Shardul provides the crucial breakthrough for his country as the WI batters were gaining momentum. Hosein gets caught behind after scoring the important 34 runs in the chase. It was eventful over as Odean Smith hit two consecutive sixes against Thakur to balance out the over for the visitors.

  • West Indies 150/6 after 37 overs: Akeal Hosein and Fabian Allen have batted maturely to rebuild the Windies innings. The duo has stitched a 39-runs partnership till now and are looking comfortable to rotate strike against India bowlers. India have to remove them, if they want to clinch the ODI series against the visitors.

  • West Indies 117/6 after 30.5 overs: WICKET - Shamarh Brooks departs! Maiden ODI wicket for Deepak Hooda. This is a big wicket as Brooks was set and this chase depended on him, but Hooda has sent him packing. India should aim for a bunch of wickets to sign off for this match, while Windies should look to hang in there and take this game as deep as possible. Interesting phase awaits us.

  • West Indies 115/5 after 30 overs: Windies has somehow managed to cross 100 mark after losing half of their side in this low-scoring chase. India bowlers were just ruthless in a phase, where they went through their opponent's batting order. Brooks has shown some sensible batting and along with Hosein, they have managed to stitch a good but small partnership. India should just stick to their plans and avoid giving loose deliveries to the West Indies batters.

  • West Indies 76/5 after 22 overs: WICKET - Jason Holder gone! Lord Shardul Thakur gets the big fish Jason Holder as his first wicket. Windies have now lost half of their side in a quick session. Hosein comes in at 7 to join hands with Brooks, while India bowlers continue to rattle the visitors batting. West Indies should try to stay composed and play carefully, otherwise this match would end soon.

  • West Indies 66/4 after 19.4 overs: WICKET - Nicholas Pooran departs! Prasidh Krishna bags his third wicket of the game after he gets Windies skipper Pooran to take a knick off him on 9. The visitors look completely clueless of wheather to hit or stay and build the partnerships. India are quickly going through their opponent's middle-order as the men in red are already 4 down in their chase of 238.

  • West Indies 52/3 after 16.2 overs: WICKET - Shai Hope gone! Chahal gets the wicket of the well-settled Hope. After a good start, West Indies have suddenly started to crumble in the middle phase of their chase. Chahal bowled a loopy off-side delivery and Shai gifted away his wicket in an attemt to slog sweep it. The visitors are now three down and India are looking really energetic on the field.

  • West Indies 50/2 after 15 overs: India have managed to bring things down under control after two quick wickets by Prasidh Krishna. The West Indies opening pair of Shai Hope and Brandon King started off really well by seeing off the new ball and then scoring 13 runs in the sixth over. But then, Prasidh was handed the ball and he striked twice in that spell. WI need to be cautious as the local spinners have come in to exploit the conditions.

  • West Indies 38/2 after 9.1 overs: WICKET - Darren Bravo departs! Prasidh gives a double blow to the visitors after he gets the wicket of Darrev Bravo in his second over. Bravo's poor run of series continues to haunt Windies as they are already 2 down in the chase. India are now delighted as Shamarh Brooks comes in at No. 4 to join Hope.

  • West Indies 32/1 after 7.3 overs: WICKET - Brandon King dismissed! Prasidh Krishna strikes early in his first over of the inning. Extra bounce and Prasidh has his man, short of a good length and well wide of off, but King knicked it off to Pant. Great wicket for the hosts after a quick start by the visitors. Darren Bravo comes in at No. 3 to join Hope at the other end.

  • West Indies 15/0 after 5 overs: India have started good with bowling in the right areas. Shardul has been given the new ball to pair up with Siraj in this inning.  Although, Men in blue haven't given away any loose balls till now, but they are also empty in the wickets column. They need to keep bowling tight for WI to give away their wickets. Interesting phase of play lies ahead.

  • West Indies 5/0 after 1 over: West Indies star off their proceedings with Shai Hope and Brandon King walking out to bat. The openers would look to see off the new ball, so that they can get set before they go against their spinners. Siraj takes the new ball for India. Testing period for the visitors.

  • India 237/9 after 50 overs: West Indies have completely overshadowed India in the closing phase of the first innings as they have easily managed to restrict hosts under 250 runs. There were some instances when India showed glimpse of turning things around during the middle phase but, WI bowlers had some different ideas to push back the hosting side in their own den. Nicholas Pooran's bowling changes were on point and he stayed calm throughout the first innings. Let's see, if Indian bowlers can make something out of this low total on this sluggish pitch.

India: Suryakumar Yadav- 64, KL Rahul 49; West Indies: Alzarri Joseph- 36/2, Odean Smith- 29/2.

  • 226/ 9 after 48.1 - WICKET - Deepak Hooda falls! Deepak gets caught out after playing a handy knock of 29 from 25 balls. He tried to smack the short-ball after middling it well, but has holed out in the end. India's last man Prasidh Krishna enters the ground to finish off the proceedings.
  • India 224/8 after 47.3 overs: WICKET - Mohammed Siraj departs! Siraj out caught by Shai Hope. West Indies are bossing now towards the closing phase of their innings as India is still short of 250 runs mark. Alzarri Joseph gets his second wicket of the game. Chahal walks in at No. 10. India need to finish it off well.
  • India 212/7 after 46 overs: WICKET - Shardul Thakur dismissed! Lord Shardul couldn't show his heroics with the bat in this match as he has been caught out off Alzarri Joseph. India are losing quick wickets at the closing end of their innings. The hard lengths and the extra bounce again assisting the visitors. Siraj comes in at No. 9 to join Hooda.
  • India 192/6 after 42 overs: WICKET - Washington Sundar departs! India have now lost 6 wickets before reaching 200. Sundar is known to stick around and build good partnerships but surprisingly, he has thrown it away in an attempt to clear the fence. Another blow for the Indians. Shardul Thakur joins Deepak Hooda in the middle.
  • India 178/5 after 39 overs: Suryakumar Yadav departs. Big blow for India as Suryakumar Yadav departs for 64 in 83 balls. The right-hand batsman goes for a sweep, ends up edging it up in the air. Deepak Hooda, who is playing his second match in ODI cricket, has joinned Sundar in the middle. India need a partnership and then they can look to attack in last five over. Shardul Thakur is the only recognised batsman after this pair.
  • India 159/4 after 35.3 overs: Fifty up for SKY! Brilliant fifty by Suryakumar Yadav. It is his 2nd ODI fifty in just six games. He came to crease when India had lost Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli. From 43/3 he along side KL Rahul took India out of trouble. Now he should look to make it a big one and take India to a solid total. Washington Sundar is at the crease with him.
  • India 137/4 after 29.4 overs: WICKET - KL Rahul RUNOUT! The partnership has come to an end. YES-NO, YES-NO and in the end, KL Rahul falls short of his crease. There was never a double and it was Rahul's call. Unfortunate run-out for India. Just when India were looking to go good, misunderstandings in running between the wickets make an entry.

  • India 108/3 after 27 overs: India get some respite after losing the first phase of the inning to the visitors. KL Rahul and SKY have managed to build a first fifty plus partnership for India. Rahul has also started to get in some groove against the WI bowlers. Both the batsman would aim for a big partnership for the upcoming batters. West Indies need to tighten the screws, if they want to keep India under 250.

  • India 78/3 after 22 overs: After the opening phase going in the favour of the visitors, India's SKY and KL have ensured that they don't gift WI another loose wickets. Surya has arrived on the field with his usual positive and aggressive approach, while Rahul has started slow in his first appearance of the home series. Interesting phase of the game lies for both teams.

  • India 57/3 after 17 overs: West Indies clearly have an upper hand now as their bowlers have managed to send India's Top three batters back in the dugout. The new opening pair of Pant and Rohit didn't work out for the hosts and Virat Kohli continued his run drought. Two new batsman KL Rahul and SKY are there at the crease for India and they should look to stitch a good partnership in this inning. WI would now look to get through the middle order of their opponents and restrict them to a low total.

  • India 43/2 after 12 overs: WICKET - Kohli dismissed! Double blow for the Indian side as Odean Smith has managed to dismiss the set pair of Kohli and Pant in the same over. Kohli had a perfect opportunity to score big runs today and get his team to a respectable total but he could score just 18 runs. Suryakumar Yadav joins Rahul in at No. 5. India are in a state of bother now as two new batsman are at the crease with their score still under 50.

  • India 39/2 after 11.1 overs: WICKET - Pant falls! Big wicket for India as their experiment of opening up with Pant has completely failed in this inning. He was slowly starting to get the pressure after he started his innings very slowly. KL Rahul walks in at No.4 to join Kohli at the other end.

  • India 37/1 after 10 overs: India are off to a slow start. West Indies bowlers have done a good job by restricting their opponents to a score under 40. Kohli and Pant are taking their time to settle down in for a much-needed partnership for India. But, WI need to be beware as Pant has started to hit some quick boundaries and he can be lethal once the spinners arrive.

  • India 16/1 after 5 overs: West Indies have managed to dismiss the India skipper cheaply and they are producing a good opening spell of bowling. Kohli has just joined in and will be eager to score some big runs today, while Pant is playing against his aggressive nature by holding on at the moment. Interesting phase of game awaits us.

  • India 9/1 after 3 overs: WICKET - Rohit falls! Roach provides the early breakthrough for his side as Rohit gets caught behind the wicket. The extra bounce did the trick for West Indies as Rohit managed a thick top-edge. Virat Kohli walks in at No.3 and joins Pant. India need to rebuild and this is a golden opportunity for Kohli to get back into form and end his run drought.

  • India 5/0 after 1 over: In an interesting move Rishabh Pant has opened the innings along with Rohit Sharma and both the openers are off the mark. Although KL Rahul has returned into the side, he is slotted in the middle-order, with Pant and Rohit maintaining the left-right combination. For West Indies, it's Kemar Roach who has started the proceedings with the new ball. Crucial first over for both sides, especially for India with an aggressive Pant opening the batting.

West Indies wins toss, asks India to bat first
  • Pitch Report by Deep Dasgupta and Ajit Agarkar: 'We are playing on a different pitch, but the dimensions aren't any different. Even covering of grass, could be a bit tacky and could get better to bat under lights. The captain winning the toss could opt to bowl first considering that dew could be a factor.'
  • Toss at 1:00 PM as India aim to seal the three-match ODI series.
