New Zealand are only 58 runs away from levelling the series. New Zealand are 227/3 after 40 overs. Young's wicket hasn't made much of a difference with Mitchell batting well on 96.

Finally!! India have broken the partnership and Kuldeep Yadav strikes. Will Young has been dismissed for 87 and is this an opening for India? New Zealand are still 77 runs away from victory off 72 balls and things can get interesting if Mitchell gets out now.

New Zealand did well in the last couple of overs. India are 246/5 after 46 overs with Rahul batting on 81. He will be key if the hosts are looking to post a total in excess of 280.

India are 234/5 after 44 overs. Another partnership between Rahul and Nitish Reddy is coming up. With six overs to go, India will definitely look to go past the 280-run mark.

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have now added more than 50 runs and the partnership is picking up pace as well. With around 15 overs left an the score reading 173/4, India can look to cross the 300-run mark now but this partnership needs to continue for long.

Jadeja and Rahul are slowly but surely building up their partnership and rebuilding India's innings. India have reached the 150-run mark in the 33rd over. Can they reach 280? New Zealand will have to keep picking wickets regularly to stay on top.

It was supposed to be a flat pitch, but that isn't the case so far, it seems. Rahul and Jadeja have added more than 20 runs now but run-rate has gone down. India are 141/4 in the 30th over. 

Virat Kohli departed for 23 runs off 29 balls. The maestro played it down to the stumps. Kristian Clarke with his third wicket of the day. India are reduced to 118/4 at the moment. The hosts are in big trouble as Ravindra Jadeja joined KL Rahul in the middle. 

Shreyas Iyer departed for 8 runs off 17 balls. Pressure was slowly building on Shreyas, who succumbed to the pressure. Kristian Clarke with his second wicket of the day as India are reduced to 115/3 after 21.3 overs.

India are 112/2 after 20 overs. Kohli is batting on 19 off 20 balls, while Shreyas Iyer is on seven. The duo would hope to keep up with the momentum as India desperately need a strong partnership in the middle overs. 

The short bowl did the trick. Shubman Gil departed for 56 runs. Kyle Jameson bowled a short one and Gill went for a pull but failed to time it. A good knock from the skipper came to an end. India are 99/2 after 16.5 overs. Shreyas Iyer joined Virat Kohli in the middle, as drinks have been called.

India captain Shubman Gill hit back-to-back half-centuries in the ongoing series. In the second ODI, he reached the milestone in 47 deliveries. Kohli, on the other hand, congratulated him. The youngster is also nearing to 3000 runs in the ODI format.

Virat Kohli now holds the record for most runs in India vs New Zealand bilateral series. Overall, he stands second on the list, behind Ricky Ponting. The 37-year-old needed just one run to surpass Sachin Tendulkar and he did it in the first ball itself with a gorgeous cover drive.

Rohit Sharma departed after scoring 24 runs off 37 balls. Clarke picked up his first wicket of the day. The former India captain wanted to go for a maximum but failed to clear it as Young picked up a comfortable catch. India are 70/1 as Virat Kohli walked into the middle.

Seven runs off the 12th over. India are 70/0. Gill has moved to his 40s, while Rohit Sharma is taking his time in the middle. The India captain is doing all the hitting at the moment. The goal is to keep building the pressure on New Zealand before Virat Kohli comes in.

12 runs off the 9th over. India have regained full control of the batting after some initial struggle. They are 55/0. Jayden Lennox, who is making his debut today, has been handed the ball for the next time this afternoon. Gill, in the meantime, has reached the 30-run mark.

India have changed their gear in the last couple of overs. 21 runs were scored in the last two as India are 31/0 after seven overs. Both Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma have been on song after some initial struggle.

Kyle Jamieson conceded four runs in his third over. Extremely slow and cautious start from India in Rajkot. End of the fifth over and the hosts are 10/0. They would hope to use the remainder of the powerplay well, Particularly Rohit, who played 10 dot balls so far.

"We are in batting paradise. This is a superb pitch to bat on. Dimensions - 66m and 65m square boundaries, 75m straight down. This is a belter of a pitch. As a bowler, you still got to look to take wickets upfront. The new ball will swing a little bit, it'll move a touch. I'd be tempted to set straighter fields. You want the batters to hit straight, don't give them anything short. Have a theory on being really straight and having those catching men. One of the pitches you can actually hit through the line. Variation of pace is going to be important. Not much dew here. You might want to bat first," Deep Dasgupta and Simon Doull had analysed before the toss.

India captain Shubman Gill confirmed that India were looking to bat first anyway. He explained that there wasn't enough dew last night during practice and that influenced his decision to bat first regardless.

New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell has won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second ODI at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

The toss is just moments away. The big question is, what would the captain, winning it, decide to do? Well, bowling first seems ideal as dew is expected to play a huge role in the second innings, but no team has ever won an ODI game in Rajkot while batting second. It will be an interesting decision. 

Virat Kohli smacked five consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs and with that, he has equalled his own national record for most consecutive 50+ scores in the format. He has been terrific form lately, and it won't be surprising if the chase-master notches up another half-century and break his own record in Rajkot. 

Virat Kohli was the major talking point after the first ODI, especially as he missed his 85th international century by just seven runs. It is for the same reason, Mohammed Siraj's return didn't make it into the limelight. The Hyderabad pacer made it to the playing XI for the first time since the Champions Trophy, and on his return, he picked up two wickets for 40 runs. 

India all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series. Interestingly, Ayush Badoni has been called up as his replacement. However, he hasn't had a good time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and for the same reason, many criticised his spot in the national team. However, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has indicated that Badoni could be considered to start in the XI, given that the team may require more than five bowlers, Nitish Reddy is another option that the team may consider.
