IND vs AUS 4th T20I Highlights: India take 2-1 lead in series after spinners bowl Australia out for 119

Washington Sundar, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube combined to lead India to a smashing win in the fourth T20I on the Gold Coast by 48 runs. It wasn't the easiest of pitches and hence, India's score of 167 looked a bit below par but the bowlers were up to the task and defended it rather nicely.

Australia vs India 4th T20I, Live Score and Updates: India didn't do badly in Hobart, even though there were selection issues, to level the series 1-1 after three games. Bowling coach Morne Morkel confirmed that the team is trying out combinations ahead of the T20 World Cup and will continue to do so in the remaining 12 games before the ICC event. On the other hand, Australia already have their one eye on the Ashes and hence, have staerted resting their Test players and let them play domestic red-ball cricket.     India take a 2-1 lead in the series!

    What looked like a below-average score, India have defended it rather comprehensively to take a 2-1 lead in the series. Shubman Gill's knock will be talked about and fittingly he takes the final catch, even though he did drop one a ball before. India's bowlers have been fantastic as the spin trio did the job on a sluggish track at Carrara.

    Washington Sundar finishes with three - Australia are all out

    Australia are bowled out for 119 and India win the game by 48 runs. Washington Sundar has figures of 3/3 and Australian batters just couldn't handle the spin from the Indian bowlers.

    WICKET! Stoinis departs, India running through Australia

    Washington Sundar has two wickets in two balls as India are just running through the Australian line-up. Marcus Stoinis was trapped LBW tried to play a reverse, while Sundar caught and bowled Xavier Bartlett on the very next delivery. Australia are eight down now.

    India are just hanging in there with Tim David throwing his wicket away. Shivam Dube bent his back to bowl a slower bouncer and David could only get a top edge and captain Suryakumar Yadav takes a simple catch.

    Shivam Dube has picked up the prized wicket of Mitchell Marsh. The Australia captain departed after scoring 30 runs off 24 balls. He attempted to clear the ropes but Arshdeep Singh picked up a good catch to end his stay in the middle. Australia are 70/3 after 9.2 overs.

    A decent start from Australia. Seven overs gone, they are 55/1. Despite Short's wicket, India couldn't take advantage as Australia will look to get the job done. The Suryakumar Yadav-led side need wickets to get back.

    Matt Short departs

    Axar Patel drew the first blood. He got the better of Matthew Short, who made 25 runs off 19 balls. After the ball his pads, the Indian team was optimistic for a possible LBW, but the umpire refused to raise his finger. After a DRS appeal, it was confirmed as Short had to move back to the pavilion.

    India finish on 167/8

    Marcus Stoinis also got a wicket, bowling the final over, dismissing Arshdeep Singh and India end with 167/8. Axar Patel hit a six and a four but India couldn't breach the 175-mark as Australia will fancy their chance of chasing it down.

    Adam Zampa has struck a double blow in his final over of the spell and India are digging a hole for themselves. Shubman Gill's knock forced everyone else to try to hit from the first ball itself and in the process, India are losing wickets in a flurry.

    No boundary for Shubman Gill since the fifth over!

    Shubman Gill was 23* off 15 when he scored his last boundary in the fifth over of India's innings. Since then, he has scored just 11 runs in 15 balls after the powerplay as India are piling up dot balls. Even Shivam Dube, apart from a six and a four, looked like a fish out of the water as India's innings is going nowhere.

    Surprisingly, Abhishek Sharma wasn't able to get it out of the middle of the bat, but Shubman Gill, under pressure, made a good start, playing to the merit of the ball as India were off to a steady start on the Gold Coast.

    AUS vs IND 4th T20I pitch report

    Being an AFL venue like most other Australian grounds, the Carrara Oval has a drop-in surface, but Aaron Finch reckoned that it will good for batting. There were blue skies and hence, the bowlers might not get much assistance, and if Indian captain Surya's words to be taken, he mentioned that it looked like a sub-continent wicket and it might slow down later on.

    Is toss a factor here at Carrara?

    In the most recent five games at the venue in the BBL, four games have been won by the team batting first as the ball comes onto the bat nicely in the first innings and India will hope that it stays that way, having lost the toss.

    Australia win the toss, opt to bowl

    Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh won the toss again and opted to bowl first at the Carrara Oval on the Gold Coast. Marsh said that it was a new venue for the team and hence, having a score in front to chase down was a better option as they'd get the information about the surface as they go along in the game. Marsh's Indian counterpart, Suryakumar Yadav, reckoned that the surface may slow down in the second innings and hence, wanted to bat first.

    Only the third men's international fixture at Carrara

    Carrara Oval, the Metricon Stadium (its earlier name) or now the People First Stadium, will be hosting only its third men's international game and the first in three years. There was a 10-overs-per-side clash back in 2018 and a full game in 2022, which was a sub-140 clash. More recently, the surfaces at the Gold Coast stadium has produced big scores in the BBL and ahead of the new home season, both teams will hope that there are plenty of runs in there.

    India and Australia will have everything to play for in the fourth T20I, with the series levelled 1-1. India stormed back into the series with a professional run chase in Hobart in the third T20I, while Australia had won the second game in Melbourne on a spicy wicket. It is a new venue for both teams and it will be interesting to see how the pitch at Gold Coast plays, with both teams gunning to take a lead.
