Colombo Weather Live: Rain expected to hit Colombo during IND vs PAK clash

Rain has so far stayed away from Colombo. According to the weather forecast, rain was expected around 5 PM in Colombo. But so far, the weather is dry. Players from both teams are warming up, and the crowd has already filled the ground. Wow! What an atmosphere at the venue!!

The skies in Colombo have been clear since morning. The Indian team has arrived at the venue and is doing its pre-match drills. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Rinku Singh are doing some practice drills as the clash sits on the horizon.

The covers are kept close to the pitch but aren't covered, which is a positive sign. The ground is also getting dressed up for a special performance from Hunumankind. The groundstaffs are working tirelessly to keep everything ready. 

Well, the sky is gloomy but it's still not raining. A small section of the Indian fans have entered the ground and are waving the national flag. The players have also reached the stadium and are expected to start training in a short while.

A video has gone viral where a lot of fans are ready to enter the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and there is absolutely no rain. Will it remain the same way when the match starts?

Namma Karnataka Weather on X is predicting that there will be frequent disruptions during the match, but the rain will be short-lived every time. In this case, the game could be truncated heavily.

According to Accuweather, there is a 63% chance of rain at 5 PM in Colombo, which can potentially delay the start of the match. However, around 7 PM, there is only 8% chance of rain. However, even a consistent drizzle can stop the proceedings in the middle. What will happen?

It is overcast currently in Colombo and it can rain any time. But surprisingly, there is no rain yet. Will it rain just before the match?

It is interesting to note that this will be the first India vs Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup since 2009 that will not feature the duo of Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli in the clash!

While the chances of rain were quite high in the morning, they have continued to decrease as the day has gone on. There is an 8 percent chance of rain at 7 PM according to Accuweather.

With the clash rapidly approaching, many fans would wonder how the pitch would play in Colombo. It is interesting to note that the surface is expected to help the spinner, especially in the middle overs. Capitalising on the power play would be key for either side, and bowling first should be the way to go. 

Recently reports have emerged that have stated that the clouds have subdued in Colombo and bright sunlight is visible. A dry weather could bring forth pleasant conditions for the upcoming high octane clash.

Ahead of the game between India and Pakistan, the side's skipper Suryakumar Yadav gave his take on whether or not Abhishek Sharma will feature in the clash. Giving a cheeky reply, Surya opined that if Pakistan want, Abhishek Sharma will play in the game.

The temperature this morning and afternoon in Colombo has been between 26 and 30 degree celsius. With no rain in sight currently, fans would hope that the dry weather continues just like this as the game approaches. 

There is good news for the fans, as if rain plays spoilsport for some part of the game between India and Pakistan, the drainage system in place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is excellent. The ground staff gets the game back running within 45-60 minutes of the rain stopping. 

The weather is still cloudy in Colombo, no sign of rain, however, but clouds remain intact. Rain could come knocking in the latter stages of the day.

India currently lead their group due to their net run rate being superior to that of Pakistan. The Men in Blue's net run rate is +3.050, Pakistan are placed second with four points, too, and an NRR of +0.932.

Despite the conditions being cloudy,the  current forecast says that rain will not affect the clash between India and Pakistan. Parts of the eastern and southern provinces are expected to experience heavy rain, however, the stadium in Colombo lies in the western province. 

Both India and Pakistan have won two games each in the tournament so far. The two sides sit in first and second spot in their group and they will hope to secure a place in the Super Eight stage as soon as possible. 

We are less than 9 hours to the start of the game and the current weather update says that rain is away for now. The chances of rain continue to rise but no drizzle as of now.

Abhishek Sharma could make his much awaited return tonight against Pakistan. Sanju Samsoin is expected to sit out once more.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan have locked horns in the T20 World Cup eight times. In those eight times, the Indian team has managed to win the clash seven times, whereas Pakistan has only won once. 

There were light showers in Colombo on Satuday, however, forecast for Sunday is dry. While misty conditions are expected in Colombo at night, the chances of rain during the game continue to fall.

Currently, the skies are cloudy in Colombo. 94% humidity currently, with showers. The forecast is that rain will lighten up around 7 pm, with the chances of precipitation dropping to just 9 percent.

In the case that the game between India and Pakistan is abandoned due to excess rain, the points between each team will be split. The two sides will receive one point each. As this is a group stage game, there is no reserve day in place for the game. 

It is worth noting that the Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology issued an update that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the south-eastern Bay of Bengal leading to significant rainfall, this could be a big reason why rain could play spoilsport in the clash between India and Pakistan.

Currently, it is 31 degree celsius in Colombo, it is cloudy with a couple of showers here and there. If this stays on until the game is something that is yet to be seen. We do have several hours before the game so the weather should not pose any problems.
