Colombo Weather Live: Rain expected to hit Colombo during IND vs PAK clash

With India all set to take on Pakistan in game 27 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, rain is predicted throughout most of the day, with chances of it dropping around the time of the game at 7 pm.

The stage is set for game 27 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. India and Pakistan will take on each other at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 15, and ahead of the clash, many fans would be waiting in anticipation to see how the weather is in Colombo and whether or not rain would play spoilsport in the clash. Rain is predicted throughout most of the day but the chances of bad weather drop significantly around 7 PM according to the current forecast.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan currently occupy first and second spots in their group, respectively. With both sides having won both of their games so far, progress to the Super Eight stage of the tournament is more of less guaranteed, and it could be interesting to see which sie comes out on top as the teams take on each other in Colombo.

    Rain stays away after 5 PM

    Rain has so far stayed away from Colombo. According to the weather forecast, rain was expected around 5 PM in Colombo. But so far, the weather is dry. Players from both teams are warming up, and the crowd has already filled the ground. Wow! What an atmosphere at the venue!!

    According to Accuweather, there is a 63% chance of rain at 5 PM in Colombo, which can potentially delay the start of the match. However, around 7 PM, there is only 8% chance of rain. However, even a consistent drizzle can stop the proceedings in the middle. What will happen?

    Drainage system in Colombo

    There is good news for the fans, as if rain plays spoilsport for some part of the game between India and Pakistan, the drainage system in place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is excellent. The ground staff gets the game back running within 45-60 minutes of the rain stopping.

    Despite the conditions being cloudy,the  current forecast says that rain will not affect the clash between India and Pakistan. Parts of the eastern and southern provinces are expected to experience heavy rain, however, the stadium in Colombo lies in the western province.

    In the case that the game between India and Pakistan is abandoned due to excess rain, the points between each team will be split. The two sides will receive one point each. As this is a group stage game, there is no reserve day in place for the game.

    It is worth noting that the Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology issued an update that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the south-eastern Bay of Bengal leading to significant rainfall, this could be a big reason why rain could play spoilsport in the clash between India and Pakistan.
