Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman has become the fastest batsman in ODI history to complete 1000 runs in just 18 innings during the fifth and last ODI against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

He broke the record previously set by Sir Vivian Richards (21 innings) in 1980 which was since equalled by Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Quinton de Kock and, most recently, Babar Azam.

Meanwhile, Fakhar has broken the record for most runs in a five-game bilateral series, having accumulated 515 runs before being dismissed for 85 today.

The left-hander has also broken the record for the highest amount of runs made between successive dismissals (455 runs), surpassing Md. Yousuf's previous record of 405 runs. Fakhar was dismissed for the first time today after the 1st ODI of the series.

In the last match, Zaman became the first Pakistan batsman and sixth overall to score a double century in ODI cricket. Scoring an unbeaten knock of 210 runs, Zaman propelled Pakistan to 399/1 in their allotted 50 overs of the fourth ODI at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo, on Friday.
