Corruption is the biggest enemy of development, says Narendra Modi in Kargil

Kargil: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that corruption has to be uprooted completely if we have to move forward on the path of development.Modi was addressing a public meeting in Kargil of Jammu and

Earlier, Narendra Modi  was received at the Leh airport by state Governor NN Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Prime Minister is being  accompanied by Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

The Prime Minister will be inaugurating two hydro-power projects besides  laying the  foundation stone for the 349-km Leh-Srinagar transmission line.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on his maiden visit to the two high-altitude Himalayan towns of Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Avinash Rai Sharma have been camping in Jammu and Kashmir for the last two days to overlook the arrangements for the public meetings.

The Prime Minister will also meet Army and IAF personnel.

The BJP bagged the Ladakh parliamentary constituency for the first time this year when its candidate Thupstan Chhewang won the seat by a slender margin of 36 votes.  

This is the second visit of Modi to the state after becoming the Prime Minister and his visit to the Himalayan town is seen as a thanksgiving gesture to the people for voting the BJP candidate to victory.
