Virat Kohli had become the first Indian and overall second batter in Asia Cup T20 to score a century and according to him, it was the most unexpected and surprising way to bring up his 71st in a format, which may not be his best. India won the encounter by 66 runs and ended their disappointing 2022 campaign on a high.

Pathum Nissanka, who already had a couple of fifties to his name in the tournament, like Kohli, finished his campaign on a high note personally, with a maiden T20I ton. Nissanka became the fourth Sri Lankan batter to score a T20I century and the fourth to hit a ton across all formats for his country.

Nissanka became the third batter in Asia Cup T20 to score a century and the second in a run-chase after Babar Hayat. However, unfortunately, he couldn't take his side home as Sri Lanka tied with India on 202 and eventually faltered in the Super Over.

Babar Hayat, the Hong Kong veteran, became the first player in Asia Cup T20 history to score a century, achieving an impressive 122 off just 60 balls during the qualifying games of the 2016 edition against Oman.
