This is India's first centrally air-conditioned railway station, experience airport-like comfort

Sir M Visvesvaraya Railway Terminal in Bengaluru is India’s first centrally air-conditioned railway station.

This station is named after the Bharat Ratna recipient Sir M Visvesvaraya who served as a civil engineer and was also the Diwan of Mysore.

The airport-like terminal has a VIP lounge, a waiting hall,, a passenger information system and a food court. It can accommodate 50,000 people daily.

Key features, often compared to Kempegowda International Airport, include seven platforms, three pit lines, and eight stabling lines to operate 50 trains a day. There are six ticket counters, one dedicated to persons with disabilities.

The terminal has a fully air-conditioned lobby. It has parking space for 900 two-wheelers and 250 four-wheelers.

Indian Railways invested Rs 314 crore in the 4,200 sq m terminal, located near Baiyappanahalli metro station on the Purple Line.
