It will provide passengers connectivity to expressways, highways, metro, suburban rail, and water taxis.

The NMIA will be named after late DB Patil, announced Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 3.

The NMIA, which will be second airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, has also received aerodrome licence from DGCA.

Spread across an area of 1,160 hectares, the NMIA has been developed by the Adani Group and Maharashtra's town development authority CIDCO.

The NMIA is also a green airport as it has the storage facility for sustainable aviation fuel.

Besides being one of the most efficient airports, it would also have an Automated Passenger People's Mover facility, which will internally connect all four terminals.
