Nairobi mall attack: Know more about the 'White Widow' Samantha Lewthwaite

New Delhi: More than 60 people have been killed in the assault on the upscale mall, which has lasted for three days in Kenya's capital, Nairobi.In a recent statement Kenya's foreign minister has said, "two or three Americans" and "one Brit" were among those who attacked the Nairobi Westgate shopping malla though Samantha Lewthwaite is believed to be the master mind of the attack. Samantha Lewthwaite is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, one of the suicide-bombers of the 7 July 2005 London bombings. On 7 July 2005, Lindsay blew himself up on a train travelling between King's Cross and Russell Square tube stations, at 8:50 a.m. He killed 26 innocent civilians in his suicide attack.Lewthwaite is supposedly the financer, recruiter and trainer for al Qaeda, and has knit an all-women jihadist squad in Africa. She is also known as White Widow.Lewthwaite is the daughter of a British Army soldier, and reportedly hails from Banbridge, County Down. She grew up in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Her parents had a broken marriage which made her feel isolated with in her family as a result of it she spent time with Muslim neighbours and reportedly found comfort in their conservative family life.Thus later during her teens she converted to Islam.She met Germaine Lindsay through an internet chat-room and married him in 2002. Couple has two kids from the marriage, Lewthwaite was pregnant with their second child at the time of Germaine Lindsay death.Later Lewthwaite is subsequently believed to have met and married Habib Ghani. She gave birth to a third child in August 2009. She moved to the north of England, and then later disappeared with her childrenShe has also been accused of orchestrating grenade attacks at worship centers of religions other than Islam. In Kenya, she is known as the lynchpin of a terrorist team that consists of a number of British nationals and has links with the al Qaeda affiliate terrorist group, al Shabab.She is believed to be behind an attack on those watching soccer in a bar in Mombasa during Euro 2012 too. When police raided a rented accommodation in Mombasa, where they believed she had lived, they found chemicals similar to those that her husband had used in the London Tube bombing. But she had managed to give the authorities a slip. After slipping off British intelligence for years, the 'White Widow' has resurfaced on their radar.
