Iran releases 15 Indian fishermen detained since last year

Iran has released the 15 Indian fishermen who were detained with their Bahraini boats last year.

Iran has released the 15 Indian fishermen who were detained with their Bahraini boats last year.

Making the announcement on twitter, External Affairs Minister Sushma swaraj thanked the Indian Embassy in Tehran for their good work in facilitating the release of these fishermen. 

“I am happy to inform that Iran has released our 15 fishermen from Tamil Nadu. They were detained with their 3 Bahraini boats,” Sushma Swaraj tweeted.

“I appreciate the good work by Indian Embassy in Iran,” she added.

On September 22 last year, these fishermen were arrested by Iranians for entering their waters without permission.

All the 15 fishermen, working for some Baharainians, were confined to their boats since their arrest.
