New Delhi: After claiming responsibility for recent Wagah suicide attack, Pakistani Taliban's breakaway group Jamat-ul-Ahrar has now issued a threat to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Targeting Modi, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan Jamaat Ahrar (TTP-JA) spokesperson ‘Ehsanullah Ehsan' said in a message on Twitter, “You are the killer of hundreds of Muslims. We will take the revenge of innocent people of Kashmir and Gujarat.”
This has come three days after the attack at Wagah border on the Pakistani side claiming 61 lives. The terrorist group has claimed to carry out Sunday's suicide bombing.
The Prime Minister has been briefed at least twice in the last fortnight by top security officials on the growing threat from jihadist groups.
Meanwhile, the central intelligence agencies have alerted Kolkata police about the possibility of a terror attack in the city, especially in the port area. Tight security measures have been put in place across Kolkata.
India has been on higher alert since al Qaeda announced the formation of an Indian branch of the militant outfit to spread Islamic rule and raise the flag of jihad.
Surojit Karpurakayastha, Kolkata Police Commissioner, said that on the basis of intelligence agencies alert, security has been stepped up in the port area and the city. The Coast Guard and other agencies have been alerted.
Yesterday, the India Navy withdrew two warships from the eastern port of Kolkata in the backdrop of intelligence inputs. According to Navy Spokesman Captain DK Sharma, two naval warships -- INS Khukri and INS Sumitra -- that had docked in Kolkata on Monday were ordered back into sea for operational reasons.
The ships were meant to be in port until Friday for public viewing as part of ceremonies in the run-up to Navy Day next month.
According to the intelligence input, terrorists might carry out an attack in port area and may also use small boats to carry out the attack.
