Uttarakhand Foundation Day: Uttarakhand was carved out of Uttar Pradesh to become India's 27th state on November 9, 2000. The day is celebrated every year as the state's foundation day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, attended the main event celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand's formation at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun today. The occasion marks 25 years since the creation of the state. To commemorate the milestone, the Prime Minister released a special postal stamp and is scheduled to address the gathering during the event. Addressing the silver jubilee celebrations, PM Modi, praised the state’s deep connection to the 'Vocal for Local', movement as an integral part of its tradition. He emphasised Uttarakhand's spiritual strength as the true essence of its identity and expressed confidence that the state could soon become the Spiritual Capital of the world. Modi highlighted key pilgrimage sites like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Jageshwar, and Adi Kailash as symbols of faith that attract millions of devotees annually, contributing both spiritually and economically to the region.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami announces pension hike for statehood activists
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced an increase in the pension for activists who fought for the creation of the state. He also said there were plans to name key infrastructure facilities after those who lost their lives during the movement. The announcement was made at a programme held here on Saturday, a day before the state's 25th Foundation Day. The chief minister said pension for statehood activists who spent at least seven days in jail or were injured during the movement will be increased from Rs 6,000 per month to Rs 7,000 per month. Dhami also announced a hike in the pension for other activists from Rs 4,500 per month to Rs 5,500 per month.

Projects to be inaugurated by PM Modi
The projects that will be inaugurated by Prime Minister include Dehradun water supply coverage for 23 zones under AMRUT scheme, electrical substation in Pithoragarh district, solar power plants in government buildings, AstroTurf Hockey Ground at Haldwani Stadium in Nainital, among others.
Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of two key hydro-sector related projects - Song Dam Drinking Water Project which will supply 150 MLD (million liters per day) drinking water to Dehradun and Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project in Nainital, which will provide drinking water, support irrigation and electricity generation. Other projects whose foundation stone will be laid include electrical substations, establishment of Women’s Sports College in Champawat, state-of-the-art dairy plant in Nainital, among others.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects worth over Rs 8,140 crores, including the inauguration of projects worth over ₹930 crores and the foundation stone laying of projects worth over Rs 7,210 crores. These projects cater to several key sectors including drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development.
Prime Minister will also release a support amount of Rs 62 crores to more than 28,000 farmers directly into their bank accounts under PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
