Mumbai: The special anti-corruption bureau (ACB) court on Saturday reprimanded the ACB investigators for filing a closure report in the Rs 45,000 cr Powai land scam, without producing any investigation report.

Builder Niranjan Hiranandani and several other bureaucrats are accused in this case.  Special judge V A Daulatabadkar  said he will decide on closure of the case only after going through the probe report. Next hearing is on Feb 15.

The scam took place way back in 1986 when the state government gave 344 acres of land in Powai to Hiranandani Builders on 80-year lease for building houses for the poor. According to the agreement, the houses were not supposed to exceed 860 sqft. but the builder allegedly built houses measuring around 1,000 sqft and sold it to rich people at a premikum, alleged RTI activist Santosh Daundakar in his petition.
