Mumbai: BJP's Maha-Garjna Rally at Bandra-Kurla Complex  addressed by the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi  on Sunday afternoon has proved to be  successful   as BJP claims that nine lakh people attended the rally. However, according to Mumbai police, the numbers were above three lakhs.

The rally was a  complete Narendra Modi show. The ground started filling up since early morning and when Modi arrived at around 2 pm, the crowd began swelling, with people spilling onto the streets.

After seeing the crowd, Modi said “This is a historic moment. I can see only people's heads till the horizon.”

Special invites were distributed to VVIPs, around 140 consulates and diplomatic corps and even 10,000 tea-vendors for Modi's first-ever rally in the city after his name was announced as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate. The invite to the US consulate was withdrawn after the Devyani Khobragade issue.
