Katihar (Bihar): Six idols of various deities made of ‘astadhatu' were stolen from a temple in Kursela area in Bihar's Katihar district, a police officer said today.
The thieves broke into Muradpur Thakurbari temple last night and stole idols of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, Laxman, Goddess Laxmi and Lord Ganesh, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rakesh Kumar said.
According to the temple's priest Jaiprakash, the stolen idols were made of ‘astadhatu' and some of them were over a century old.
The theft was detected this morning when the priest opened the gate of the temple for prayers.
A case has been lodged in this connection and three suspects detained for questioning, the police official said.
