The Dhanbad district administration has ordered mandatory COVID-19 tests for all passengers arriving at Gomoh railway station from Tuesday following a surge in coronavirus cases in many states, an official said.

The BJP's Onkar Nehria has been elected unopposed as the Mayor of Dharamshala Municipal Corporation, while Independent councillor Sarv Chand has been elected as the Deputy Mayor.

It will be the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led municipal corporation in Dharamshala after the party won eight of the 17 wards and received the backing of three Independent councillors.

As per the information given by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), in view of upcoming festivals, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has shortened the night curfew, to be imposed from 10:30 pm to 5:00 am now. This is applicable for the areas where night curfew is already imposed in the state.

Police arrested three people involved in interstate theft of two-wheelers in UP's Noida. DCP of Noida, Rajesh S said, "We have recovered 30 bikes from them. Maximum bikes were from Delhi, while some were from Bulandshahr and other places." 

Amid COVID-19 pandemic scare in Delhi, Kalkaji Temple makes e-passes mandatory for all the devotees arriving on the first day of Navratri. The head priest of the temple said, "Devotees will be given a particular day and time to visit the temple. Link is available on the temple website." 

Two youths, arrested in theft case in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, made to walk together on Monday after one of them tested COVID-19 positive. A GRP official said, "We got them tested after producing in Court and one's report came positive. Our vehicle broke down hence we had to take them to jail on foot." 

As per the information of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), two drug peddlers were detained after Mumbai NCB conducted raids in areas of Malad, Parel and Santacruz last night. The raids were conducted in connection with a drug case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. 

Devotees arrived at Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu & Kashmir's Katra on the first day of Navratri today, amid COVID-19 protocols in place. A devotee from Delhi said, "We have to present negative RT-PCR report upon entering the temple. I pray that this infection is eliminated soon." 

Morning 'aarti' was being performed at Delhi's Jhandewalan temple in the presence of priests and their family members on the first day of Navratri today. The temple has been closed for general public in view of rising cases of COVID-19 pandemic in the national capital.

Five people have been booked and one of them has been arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a minor girl in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. Sambedana Snehi of Women Police Station said, "Five have been booked and one has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl, filming the act and circulating it online in Hathauri area of Muzaffarpur." 

A man and a woman were found shot dead in a car in Bania Khera area of Lucknow Cantt at around 9:00 pm on Monday. Additional DCP (East) of Lucknow Cantt, SM Qasim Abidi said, "Prima facie, it seems the man shot the woman dead before shooting himself." 

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday released a commemorative postage stamp in memory of former Brahma Kumaris chief Rajyogini Dadi Janki in Delhi. Speaking at the event, VP Naidu said, "Everyone should follow her footsteps to fight social evils like gender discrimination, casteism and communalism." 

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha on Monday inaugurated Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIIT) at Government Polytechnic College at Bikram Chowk in Jammu. The centre was established at a cost of Rs 181.56 crores in Jammu city.
