Senior Andhra politician and three-time MP SPY Reddy passes away

Reddy began his political career with the BJP. After he failed to win on the BJP ticket, he joined the Congress. He was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 2004 on Congress ticket.

Sitting MP from Nandyal constituency in Andhra Pradesh SPY Reddy passed away at a hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday night. He was 68 and had been ailing for a long time.

Reddy, reportedly, had been suffering from heart and kidney related ailments and was admitted to the hospital on April 3. He took ill during the election campaign and was undergoing treatment since then.

In 2004 and 2009, Reddy won from Nandyal parliamentary seat as Congress candidate. In 2014, he won the seat as YSR Congress nominee, but soon switched into the ruling Telugu Desam party (TDP) after the election.

Reddy, a three time MP, was associated with the Congress, BJP, TDP and Jana Sena. He also served as the chairman of Nandyal municipality.
