A wild leopard was spotted at the State Secretariat Campus in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on Monday morning. The CCTV footage near the Secretariat premises shows that the leopard entered into the campus from below gate number 7.

Meanwhile, massive search operations have been launched by police and wildlife authorities. 

Cages have been placed and tranquilizer guns have been brought into the campus after the incident.

Secretariat employees and officials have been asked not to enter the complex, which also houses the assembly building, till the wild animal is captured.

On learning about the presence of the leopard in the premises, the state forest department started a search operation.

The forest official said that the have not so far traced the presence of the leopard inside the Secretariat premises.

"The leopard may have lost its way and entered into the premises. We will either catch him or make sure he leaves the complex.We have deployed senior officers along with teams having tranquiliser guns for the operation," said Rajeev Kumar Gupta, additional chief secretary, Forest Department.

He said leopards are part of wildlife found in 40 to 50 square km area surrounding the state capital.

Police officials said that the area has been cordoned and adequate actions have been taken to ensure safety of the Secretariat workers.
