Jammu and Kashmir: LeT terrorist killed, policeman injured in shootout in Anantnag

The injured police personnel has been shifted to hospital.

One Lashkar-e-Taiba militant was killed and one policeman injured in an attack at a police picket in Anantnag. Police forces have launched search operations to arrest the remaining terrorists. 

According to police officials, terrorists attacked a police picket at Achabal at Achbal late Friday night which was successfully repulsed by the police. The weapon of the terrorist has been recovered. According to latest reports, the condition of the injured police personnel is now stable. 

The killed terrorist has been identified as Bilal Ahmad son of Abdul Ahad Bhat from Tatripora Yaripora of Kulgam district. Bilal had joined LeT three months ago. His involvement was also established in a weapon snatching case earlier. He was involved in carrying out terror attacks on the security forces and civilian atrocities in the area.

Two cars apparently used by the terrorists have been seized by the police. The police have registered a case in this regard and investigation in the  matter is in progress.
