Commenting on Deoria shelter home case, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said those behind the crime must be “exposed”.

“What happened with daughters is heart-wrenching. Culprits who were running & supporting the shelter home even after its license was revoked, should be exposed. Nothing will happen by changing a District Officer, it'll not give justice,” ANI quoted Yadav as saying.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Yogi government transferred the district magistrate of Deoria following reports of an alleged sex racket being run at a shelter home for women in the district.

Like the Muzaffarpur shelter home case in Bihar, in Deoria, on Sunday, 24 girls were freed from the shelter home after one of them informed the cops that they were being sexually abused.

The incident triggered a political storm in the state with opposition attacking the state government.

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the Lok Sabha that the shelter home incidents in both the states are sad and shameful. He assured the Lower House that measures would be taken to prevent recurrence of such acts.

"I direct the concerned ministry to issue an advisory to all states so that no such incident is repeated. Running shelter homes can be investigated," Singh assured the opposition, reported IANS.
