Clashes broke out between two communities in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh late Sunday night over an incident of eve-teasing, following which heavy police force have been deployed in the region. 

People from two communities came to blows in Qazi Katra locality in Bahraich late on Sunday after some girls returning from a dancing coaching class were reportedly teased.

The situation spiralled out of control as stones were pelted from both sides and in which six people were injured, an official said. 

The police responded to the situation quickly and the situation was brought under control in two hours. A religious place was also targeted during the clash. 

Superintendent of Police (Bahraich) Saligram Verma told IANS that the situation was under control, but as a precautionary measure additional force has been deputed in the troubled area. 

A case has been registered against unknown persons and efforts were on to identify the mischief makers, he said.
