CBI’s Deputy Superintendent of Police Devender Kumar was suspended on Tuesday following his arrest by CBI on Monday. Kumar was arrested in connection with bribery allegations involving the investigative agency's second-in-command, Rakesh Asthana.

Meanwhile, A Delhi court on Tuesday allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for custodial interrogation of Kumar for seven days.

Special CBI Judge Santosh Snehi Mann remanded Kumar to CBI custody, which had sought ten days of custodial interrogation of the accused official alleging that it has recovered incriminating documents after raiding his office and residence.

According to the probe agency, Kumar was part of an extortion racket being run in the garb of investigation. The submission was however, opposed by Kumar’s counsel and a bail plea was moved before the court.

The CBI has also sought the court's permission to add some more sections in the present FIR against accused, including Kumar.

Kumar, earlier the investigating officer in a case involving meat exporter Moin Qureshi, was arrested on allegations of forgery in recording the statement of businessman Sathish Sana, who had alleged to have paid bribe to get relief in the case.
