Sangli ZP Election Results 2026: Independent candidate likely to play major role as hung assembly likely
Sangli Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti Election Results 2026: With no party or alliance securing the majority of the seats, a hung assembly is likely in Sangli ZP elections. Independent Candidates are likely to have a final say.

Sangli Zilla Parishad (ZP) election results went as per what many analysts predicted: a "Hung" mandate where no single political party secured the 31-seat majority needed to rule alone. With 61 ZP seats and 122 Panchayat Samiti seats at stake, the district has delivered a fragmented result that puts the "key" to power in the hands of independent candidates.
After what felt like a winning day for the BJP, things turned around in the second half, as the NCP of the Sharad Pawar faction made a stunning comeback to emerge as the single largest party with leads on 18 seats. BJP are following closely with leads in 16 seats. As far as Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is concerned, they are leading on 30 seats as of now, only one less than the majority.
Moreover, the Mahayuti alliance is leading on 29 seats and Independent Candidates are leading on two seats. The latter are likely to play a major role in the Sangli ZP elections if there is a hung assembly.
Here's the breakdown:
BJP - 16 seats
Shiv Sena - 7 seats
NCP Ajit Pawar - 6 seats
NCP Sharad Pawar - 18 seats
Congress - 11 seats
Shiv Sena UBT - 1 seat
Others - 2 seats
What about Panchayat Samiti Elections?
Even in the Panchayat Samiti elections, it is a mixed result. In the Walwa-Islampur and Tasgaon blocks, the Sharad Pawar faction showed its strength, while the BJP and Shinde-led Shiv Sena dominated the Khanapur-Vita and Atpadi belts. The high voter turnout suggests that rural voters were deeply engaged but divided in their loyalties, especially following the recent political shifts and the state mourning for the late Ajit Pawar.
Shiv Sena came up with their best show in Khanapur (Vita) cleansweeping all 12 seats while Congress managed to maintain hold in Kadegaon and Palus as well.
Here's the breakdown:
Shirala - BJP - 2 seats, NCP Ajit Pawar - 3 seats, NCP Sharad Pawar - 3 seats
Walwa - BJP - 4 seats, Shiv Sena - 4 seats, NCP Ajit Pawar - 14 seats
Palus - Congress - 7 seats, BJP 1 seat
Khanapur (Vita) - Shiv Sena - 8 seats
Kadegaon - BJP - 1 seat, Congress - 7 seats
Atpadi - BJP - 3 seats, Shiv Sena - 5 seats
Tasgaon - NCP Ajit Pawar - 4 seats, NCP Sharad Pawar - 2 seats - (6 seats left out of 12)
Kavthemahankal - NCP Ajit Pawar - 3 seats, NCP Sharad Pawar - 5 seats
Jath - BJP - 12 seats, NCP Ajit Pawar - 2 seats, Congress - 4 seats
