The result for the high stake election to Municipal Councils (Nagar Parishads) and Municipal Panchayats (Nagar Panchayats) in Maharashtra will be declared on Sunday (December 21). The Mahayuti, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had a huge success in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, where it won 235 of the 288 seats -- BJP (132), Shinde Sena (57) and NCP (41).
On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was wiped out after it managed to win just 46 seats. The MVA consists the Shiv Sena-UBT, NCP-SP and Congress. The Sena-UBT won 20 seats, the Congress 16 and Sharad Pawar-led NCP 10.
Nagpur Division
Polling is also being held in the Nagpur division. The division consists six districts - Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, and Wardha.
